Momix: The Flagship Event for Young Audiences in Alsace

Since its creation in the early 1990s, the Festival Momix has established itself as one of the major events for performing arts for young audiences in France. Supported by the CRÉA (Centre de Rencontre, d'Échange et d'Animation) in Kingersheim, a venue designated for Art for Children and Youth, this international festival hosts a demanding and eclectic program each year, designed to delight both children and adults.

An Exceptional International Program

For nearly two weeks, between late January and early February, Momix presents around forty shows at the CRÉA in Kingersheim and tours to many partner venues throughout Alsace. The invited companies come from France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Quebec, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, offering a rich and diverse panorama of contemporary creation for young audiences.

All performing arts disciplines are represented: theater, dance, contemporary circus, puppetry, music, visual arts, and hybrid forms. The program highlights world premieres and new creations, with an increasing number of shows created specifically for the festival.

A Springboard for Young Audience Creation

Beyond its festive dimension, Momix plays an essential role in supporting artistic creation for children and youth. The festival hosts over 200 programmers from all over France and abroad each year, making Kingersheim a true professional marketplace for young audience performances. Companies find a prime venue for diffusion, networking, and discovery.

A Festival Rooted in its Territory

Much more than just a festival, Momix is the result of an ambitious cultural project supported by the town of Kingersheim and the CRÉA. Throughout the year, the cultural center offers an "En attendant Momix" (Waiting for Momix) season with shows, workshops, and artist residencies. This dynamic permeates the entire Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération territory and promotes young audience creation far beyond the Alsatian borders.

Momix is also a warm and friendly atmosphere, with free activities, creative workshops, artist meet-and-greets, exhibitions, and festive events designed for the joy of being together. The festival invites families to discover surprising, poetic, and sometimes wild artistic universes, in a spirit of openness and shared curiosity.
