Over thirty years of world music in Queyras

The Musiqueyras Festival was born in 1991 in Abriès-Ristolas, a mountain village nestled in the heart of the Queyras Regional Natural Park, in the Hautes-Alpes, a stone's throw from the Italian border. For over thirty years, this summer event has become a benchmark for world music in the Southern Alps, attracting music lovers each summer to discover sounds from all horizons. The MusiQueyras association, organizer of the event, carries out a traveling cultural project in a rural area, convinced that music is a vector for meeting and openness.

An eclectic musical journey

The Musiqueyras Festival's programming is an eclectic musical journey that crosses continents: African music, Latin music, Celtic music, jazz, blues, funk, salsa, singing, rap, RnB, soul, and oral traditions from around the world meet and mingle on the festival stages. For six days, about twenty concerts and jam sessions take over various locations in the village — the Salle de l'Ogival in Ristolas, the Guinguette stage, the big top — creating a unique atmosphere of celebration and sharing.

A global village at the foot of the peaks

Abriès-Ristolas, with its stone houses and charming streets, transforms every summer into a true global village. The festival prioritizes proximity, conviviality, and authenticity: artists perform as close as possible to the audience, jam sessions allow for spontaneous encounters between musicians, and the warm atmosphere of the mountain village fosters exchanges between festival-goers and locals. Nearly 90 artists and 25 concerts punctuate the week, mixing established creators and young international talents.

Musical workshops and participatory dimension

Beyond the concerts, the Musiqueyras Festival offers musical workshops open to all levels, allowing festival-goers to learn about instruments and musical traditions from around the world. This participatory dimension reinforces the festival's identity, which not only disseminates music but also invites everyone to experience and practice it. Workshops, artist meet-and-greets, and daytime activities complete a dense and accessible program.

Strong territorial anchoring

Supported by local authorities and tourism stakeholders in Queyras, the Musiqueyras Festival contributes to the summer entertainment of this preserved Alpine valley, attracting a loyal audience that returns each year to rediscover the unique spirit of this mountain festival. The exceptional natural setting of Queyras, between peaks over 3,000 meters and larch forests, offers a magnificent backdrop to this celebration of global musical diversity.
