Papillons de Nuit: An Unmissable Associative Festival

Since its creation in 2001, the Papillons de Nuit festival has established itself as a major event for contemporary music in Normandy. Located in the heart of the Manche countryside, in the village of Saint-Laurent-de-Cuves, a few kilometers from Mont-Saint-Michel, the festival offers a bucolic and exotic setting that greatly contributes to its unique identity.

An Associative and Volunteer Spirit

What distinguishes Papillons de Nuit from many other festivals is its strong associative roots. Driven by over 1,700 volunteers, the festival is a true territorial project that mobilizes local residents and stakeholders. The organizing association has remained independent and refuses to yield to purely commercial logic, prioritizing bold programming and a warm welcome.

An Eco-responsible Commitment

Papillons de Nuit is resolutely committed to sustainable development with concrete actions: waste sorting, reusable cups, dry toilets, promotion of public transport and carpooling, and raising public awareness of environmental issues.

An Eclectic and Ambitious Program

Each year, the festival offers a rich and varied program on three stages, mixing rock, pop, electro, hip-hop, French chanson, reggae, and world music. International headliners rub shoulders with discoveries and emerging talents, offering the public a complete panorama of contemporary music. Among the artists who have graced the stages of Papillons de Nuit: Muse, Stromae, Orelsan, IAM, Noir Désir, Ben Harper, Massive Attack, and many others.

An Exceptional Setting in Normandy

The festival site, in the heart of the Norman bocage, offers a green and peaceful setting that contrasts with the musical effervescence of the evenings. Free camping, relaxation areas, and the legendary conviviality of the festival make it a popular event for festival-goers from all over France. The proximity of Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay allows visitors to combine the festival with tourist discovery.

A Major Economic and Cultural Impact

With over 50,000 festival-goers each year, Papillons de Nuit generates considerable economic benefits for the region. The festival is supported by the Normandy Region, the Department of La Manche, and local authorities, who recognize its structuring role in cultural animation and tourism development in southern Manche.
