Contemporary poetry celebrated in Tinqueux, with encounters, workshops, and discoveries
The Tinqueux Festival of Poetic Expressions is an annual event organized by the Centre de Créations pour l'Enfance, Maison de la Poésie. For five days in February, the festival celebrates contemporary poetry in all its forms by inviting authors, illustrators, independent publishers, and booksellers. School encounters, family workshops, cabaret evenings, musical readings, and a poetry market make up a rich program accessible to all.
The Festival of Poetic Expressions has been driven for over a decade by the Centre de Créations pour l'Enfance, a cultural institution established in Tinqueux since 1960, which has become a Poetry House. Formerly known as "Fête de la Poésie de Tinqueux" and then "Marché de la Poésie Jeunesse," the festival has evolved into a national event celebrating contemporary poetry in its most varied forms: written, spoken, sung, signed, and drawn.
Each edition invites about fifteen authors, illustrators, and independent publishers to share their poetic universe with the public. The festival spans five days in February, with a rich program: school days dedicated to encounters between artists and students, professional days for cultural mediators and teachers, and highlights open to the general public on weekends.
Three evenings punctuate the festival: readings by publishers to discover the voices of contemporary poetry, a poetic cabaret with an open stage where anyone can read, sing, or recite their texts, and musical readings accompanied by a jazz concert. These festive and convivial moments offer a space for free expression and sharing around poetry.
A poetry market brings together a dozen independent publishers and a bookstore, offering a wide selection of contemporary poetry collections, illustrated books, and rare works. Visitors can interact directly with the publishers and authors present, creating a direct link between creators and readers.
Family workshops are offered throughout the festival: creation of poetic postcards, poetry in sign language, drawing, and writing. These workshops allow both children and adults to discover poetic creation in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
The festival primarily takes place at the Salle des Fêtes Guy Hallet in Tinqueux and in various locations in Reims and neighboring towns.
