Rue des Étoiles: Contemporary Circus by the Lake

Every summer, the shores of Lake Latécoère in Biscarrosse transform into an open-air circus village. The Rue des Étoiles Festival, a flagship event of the Odysca association, hosts contemporary circus companies from France and abroad for five days under several tents set up facing the water. Acrobats, jugglers, clowns, tightrope walkers, and aerial dancers offer shows that blend poetry, humor, fantasy, and technical prowess.

Forty Years of Circus in Biscarrosse

The adventure began in 1985 with the creation of the CRABB (Centre de Rencontres Artistiques de Biscarrosse et du Born), which became Odysca, a structure for disseminating contemporary circus. The Rue des Étoiles festival, launched in its current form in 1998, has become over the years an essential event for contemporary circus in the Southwest. In 2025, the association celebrates its 40th anniversary with an ambitious program at the crossroads of fire, water, and intimacy.

An Exceptional Natural Site

Lake Latécoère offers a unique setting for performances. The tents are set up in the heart of nature, between pine trees and water, creating a magical atmosphere that enhances the emotional impact of the shows. Performances in the open air, at sunset, are privileged moments that have made the festival famous.

A Demanding and Accessible Program

Rue des Étoiles offers about ten shows under tents and in the open air, featuring original creations and regional premieres. The festival includes both intimate and large-scale shows, with particular attention paid to family and children's programming. Both children and adults find something to enjoy in this program that values artistic daring and accessibility.

Beyond the Summer Festival

Odysca also offers a year-round cultural season of contemporary circus in Biscarrosse, with indoor and tent performances, extending the spirit of the festival well beyond the summer period.
