Gastronomic festival and Norman terroir in Ivry-la-Bataille
The Fête de la Nature et du Terroir d'Ivry-la-Bataille is an unmissable spring event in the Eure region, organized each year in March by the municipality and the Comité des fêtes. More than fifty exhibitors, local producers, nurserymen, and artisans gather to celebrate Norman terroir and nature. Tastings of local products, a best macaron contest, gardening conferences, and hikes for the whole family punctuate this friendly and gourmet weekend, which is free and open to all.
Since the early 2010s, the town of Ivry-la-Bataille, nestled in the Eure valley on the borders of Normandy and Perche, has hosted the Fête de la Nature et du Terroir every spring. Organized jointly by the municipality and the Comité des fêtes, this event brings together more than 50 exhibitors showcasing the best of Norman terroir and artisanal know-how.
Local producers play a central role in this festival. Visitors can discover, taste, and buy a wide range of local products: flours, oils, spirits, charcuterie, cheeses, honeys, jams, foie gras, snails, meats, poultry, eggs, seasonal fruits and vegetables. On the sweet side, macarons, caramels, apples, and preserves delight gourmands. Producers of cider, perry, and calvados complete this panorama of Norman flavors.
The nature aspect is just as important. Nurserymen and horticulturists offer plants, shrubs, flowers, boxwood and conifers, bulbs, miscanthus, citrus fruits, fig trees, and olive trees. Gardening enthusiasts can also find accessories, tools, birdhouses, lanterns, and planters. Conferences on permaculture and medieval gardens enrich the program, while hikes allow visitors to discover the landscapes of the Eure valley.
The Fête de la Nature et du Terroir would not be complete without its festive activities. The best macaron contest is a popular highlight, pitting participants' pastry-making talents against each other. Games, exhibitions, and craft demonstrations punctuate the two days, creating a joyful and friendly atmosphere where families can stroll at their own pace.
The town of Ivry-la-Bataille, famous for Henry IV's victory in 1590, offers a remarkable heritage setting for this festival. Between the ruins of the medieval castle, the abbey church, and the banks of the Eure, visitors enjoy a peaceful and green environment, at the gateway to the Pays d'Avre et d'Iton. Admission is free, making this event a popular and accessible gathering for all audiences.
The 15th edition of the Fête de la Nature et du Terroir is expected in March 2026 in Ivry-la-Bataille, with its traditional gathering of producers, nurserymen, and artisans around terroir and nature.
