Verneuil d'Avre et d'Iton, a magnificent medieval city in the Eure region, comes alive every summer thanks to the Bulles d'Été program. From late June to late August, the city offers a rich program of free activities that transform its squares, parks, and heritage sites into stages and spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Bulles d'Été begins with a colorful inaugural weekend. The town hall park hosts medieval knight tournaments with equestrian jousting, historical reenactments, and period entertainment, recalling Verneuil's rich medieval past. In the evening, a fire show lights up the Madeleine square, creating a moment of magic and wonder. Treasure hunts, inflatable structures, and musical entertainment complete this festive weekend.
Throughout the summer, each Thursday afternoon is dedicated to families with the Ludo d'été (Summer Play Area), set up in the town hall park. The Ludo d'Iton offers giant traditional wooden games, board games, and outdoor recreational activities, free of charge and without registration, from 2 PM to 6 PM. It's a simple and friendly gathering that brings together local families and visitors around the joy of playing together.
A highlight of the program, L'Eure des Mômes offers several days of activities dedicated to the younger audience. At Espace Saint-Laurent, the media library, and La Ruche, children can try circus arts, participate in creative workshops, and attend various shows: storytelling, theater, concerts, magic, clowns, and puppets. This event makes culture and creativity accessible to all children, fostering discovery and sharing.
Bulles d'Été also hosts the festival 'La Vache et le Caribou', a Franco-Québécois event organized by the ADBSTAR association at La Ruche. This music festival, celebrating over 15 editions, highlights the cultural ties between Normandy and Quebec through concerts, shows, and artistic encounters. A unique event that adds an international dimension to Verneuil's summer program.
Verneuil d'Avre et d'Iton, with its medieval towers, half-timbered houses, the Madeleine church, and its ramparts, offers a magnificent setting for these summer festivities. The activities take place in various heritage sites of the town, inviting visitors to discover a city steeped in history while enjoying a rich and entirely free cultural program.
