Equestrian shows at the Haras national du Pin, the Versailles of the horse
The Haras national du Pin, founded in 1715 under Louis XIV, is one of the most prestigious stud farms in France. Nicknamed the "Versailles of the horse", this 1,100-hectare estate offers an exceptional architectural setting for equestrian shows. Les Jeudis du Pin is the unmissable summer event to discover Norman equestrian art in all its splendor.
Every Thursday, the riders of the Haras national du Pin present a varied program that showcases the emblematic horse breeds of Normandy:
The demonstrations begin with a presentation of Percherons and Norman Cobs, these powerful draft horses that are the pride of Normandy's equine heritage. The carriage displays in full regalia offer a majestic spectacle in the main courtyard of the stud farm, reminiscent of the grand equestrian parades of yesteryear.
The program continues with dressage and vaulting performances, where riders and horses demonstrate their complicity and technical mastery. Liberty work, where the horse performs without a rider at the sole command of voice and gesture, offers moments of grace particularly appreciated by the public.
Les Jeudis du Pin are not just a show: they contribute to the preservation and promotion of Norman horse breeds. The Percheron, a draft breed originating from Perche, and the Norman Cob find here a setting worthy of their history and nobility. Each performance is an opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of this living heritage.
In addition to Les Jeudis du Pin, the Haras national offers other spectacular events throughout the year, including themed equestrian shows in the evenings and during school holidays, reinforcing the cultural and tourist vocation of the site.
The architecture of the stud farm, with its main courtyard, its monumental stables, and its château, forms a remarkable architectural ensemble classified as a historic monument. Visiting the estate ideally complements the discovery of the equestrian shows.
