Christmas market and winter festivities in Vernon
Every year, from the end of November, the town of Vernon transforms into a jewel of lights and enchantment for its grand winter event: Vernon Scintille. For almost a month, the city on the banks of the Seine lives to the rhythm of Christmas festivities, offering residents and visitors a rich program of activities, shows, and artisanal discoveries.
The kickoff for Vernon Scintille is on Place De-Gaulle, where young and old gather to witness the official lighting ceremony. From 5 PM, the square comes alive with a stage show and an impressive laser show that lights up the Vernon sky. This magical moment marks the beginning of a month of festivities and plunges the city into an enchanted atmosphere, with streets and squares adorned with fairy lights and Christmas decorations.
The Christmas Market, organized by the Traders' Club, takes place at the Espace Philippe-Auguste for a weekend. Visitors can discover a selection of artisanal creations, original gift ideas, jewelry, wooden toys, Christmas decorations, and local delicacies. Norman artisans and producers showcase their skills in a warm and friendly atmosphere, ideal for preparing for the holidays.
Place Barette hosts the Christmas Village, the vibrant heart of Vernon Scintille. Between gourmet chalets offering mulled wine, hot chocolate, crepes, and Norman specialties, and stands of artisanal creations, the village invites leisurely strolls and sharing. The Magical Slide, an ice rink set up for the occasion, delights families, while the Elves' Track offers sledding descents for the youngest. The Enchanted Panorama from the Ferris wheel allows you to admire the illuminated city center from above, and a small train travels through the decorated streets for the greatest joy of children.
Throughout December, Vernon Scintille offers a varied program of activities: street performances, Christmas concerts, creative workshops, and, of course, the visit of Santa Claus, who stops in Vernon to meet children. Charity concerts, such as the one by the Philhar to benefit the restoration of the Collégiale, enrich the cultural program of this unifying event.
Vernon Scintille is much more than just a Christmas market: it's an event that brings the entire Vernon community together around the magic of the holidays. Supported by the municipality and the Traders' Club, it revitalizes the city center and highlights Vernon's heritage, between the Seine, the Collégiale Notre-Dame, and its medieval streets. Free and open to all, this family event embodies Norman conviviality and warmth in the heart of winter.
The town of Vernon is preparing a new edition of Vernon Scintille for winter 2026. The full program will be announced in the fall, but Vernon residents can already count on the usual highlights: lighting ceremony, artisans' Christmas market, winter village with ice rink, Ferris wheel, and small train, as well as numerous family activities and magical shows throughout December.
By car: Vernon is accessible via the A13 motorway (Vernon exit), about 1 hour from Paris and 1 hour from Rouen.
By train: Vernon-Giverny station is served by Intercités trains from Paris Saint-Lazare (approximately 50 minutes).
Vernon Scintille runs from late November to late December. The lighting ceremony takes place in late November on Place De-Gaulle. The Christmas Market is held one weekend in early December at Espace Philippe-Auguste. The Winter Village is open during the last two weeks of December on Place Barette.
Access to the illuminations, the Christmas market, and most activities is free. Some attractions (ice rink, Ferris wheel, small train) are subject to a small fee.
