A cappella singing at the heart of an impressionist town
The Festival Voix sur Loing takes place in the town of Moret-sur-Loing, a city of art and history made famous by the impressionist painter Alfred Sisley. The Romanesque and Gothic churches of the commune, the shaded squares, the banks of the Loing river, and the inner courtyards offer exceptional natural acoustics that enhance a cappella voices. The festival utilizes these heritage sites to offer an intimate and immersive musical experience.
Choral'n Co: a committed choir collective
The festival is driven by Choral'n Co, a collective bringing together three choirs from Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne and Voulx. Founded on the pleasure of shared singing and the belief that the human voice is the most universal instrument, Choral'n Co unites passionate amateur singers who spend the year preparing for the festival. The collective invites a cappella groups from all over the Île-de-France region and beyond, creating a network of supportive and creative choirs.
A weekend of musical strolls
The festival format is designed as a musical stroll through the commune. On Friday evening, opening concerts are held in the churches of Épisy and Écuelles, offering a moment of grace in ancient stone settings. On Saturday afternoon, the meeting point is the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Moret-sur-Loing for a singing procession from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM: choirs perform one after another in different locations in the town, guiding the audience from one musical surprise to another. The day concludes with a grand final concert at 6:00 PM in the church of Notre-Dame de Moret, bringing all the groups together for a choral finale.
All genres, all voices
One of the strengths of the Festival Voix sur Loing is its musical eclecticism. The invited choirs cover a very wide spectrum of repertoires: vocal jazz, pop, world music, gospel, French popular songs, and classical music. This diversity, delivered by the human voice alone, reveals the infinite richness of a cappella singing and appeals to an audience of all ages and musical tastes.
A free and friendly festival
True to its popular and associative spirit, the Festival Voix sur Loing is completely free. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly: singers and the public mingle in the streets, share a drink or a meal between concerts, and discuss music and choral practice. This proximity between artists and spectators is the charm of this event, which, edition after edition, builds a growing audience of choral singing enthusiasts.
