The Fête d'Arpajon: a town celebrating all year round

Arpajon is a town in Essonne with about 10,000 inhabitants, founded in the Middle Ages and famous for its Foire aux Haricots (Bean Festival), a centuries-old tradition that attracts tens of thousands of visitors every September. The town, nestled between the Juine river and the RN20, is a historic crossroads of Essonne where trade and conviviality have always played a central role.

The Carnival and Funfair

Every early March, Arpajon comes alive with its Carnival and Funfair. The carnival parades through the town's streets with floats, brass bands, costumes, and entertainment for children. The funfair sets up for several days at Porte d'Étampes, offering rides, attractions, and food stalls. These two events mark the arrival of spring and bring together Arpajon families.

Fête de la Musique

On June 21st, Arpajon celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Day) with free concerts in the town's streets and squares. Amateur orchestras, local bands, and regional artists perform on various stages. The event is open to all, free, and festive.

Fête Nationale

The Bastille Day celebration on July 14th is marked by fireworks and festive events that bring residents together around republican values. It is an important moment of unity for the commune.

The Foire aux Haricots: the emblematic event

Arpajon's flagship event is undoubtedly the Foire aux Haricots (Bean Festival), held every third weekend of September. This centuries-old agricultural and commercial fair is one of the most important in the Île-de-France region. It attracts producers, artisans, and visitors from all over the region to discover Arpajon's white beans and other local products. The fair includes a producers' market, cultural events, exhibitions, and tastings.

Arpajon, a heritage town

Arpajon's town center is remarkable with its 15th-century medieval market hall, a listed historic monument, its lively central square, and its half-timbered houses. The town is crossed by the Juine river, a tributary of the Essonne, which gives it a green setting.

2025 Edition

In 2025, Arpajon offered its Carnival and Funfair on March 1st (funfair from March 1st to 9th, Porte d'Étampes), the Fête de la Musique on June 21st, and the Fête Nationale on July 14th. The Foire aux Haricots was held in September with its producers' market and events. All village events are free.

2026 Edition

In 2026, Arpajon will offer the same popular events: Carnival in spring, Fête de la Musique in June, Fête Nationale in July, and Foire aux Haricots in September (September 18–20, 2026 confirmed). Full program on arpajon91.fr.
