The legendary contemporary music venue of Essonne, a temple of rock since 1984
Le Plan is the largest SMAC (Scène de Musiques Actuelles) in Île-de-France, founded in 1984 in Ris-Orangis and certified as a Contemporary Music Venue by the Ministry of Culture. For over forty years, this legendary venue has programmed rock, metal, hip-hop, reggae, soul, and electro in its two rooms with capacities of 830 and 150, hosting both international stars and resident artists. Over 50 concerts per season, two rehearsal studios, a restaurant.
Founded in 1984, Le Plan is one of the most legendary concert venues in the Parisian suburbs. Located since 2014 at 1 avenue Louis-Aragon, Ris-Orangis, in a brand-new structure that retains its legendary name, Le Plan is now the largest SMAC (Scène de Musiques Actuelles) in Île-de-France by capacity, with a large hall seating 830 people and a club with 150 seats.
Le Plan's history is intimately linked to the history of rock in France. From its beginnings in the 1980s, the venue established itself as one of the few places in the Paris region to systematically book major international rock headliners. Ramones, Motörhead, Dr. Feelgood, Rory Gallagher, Noir Désir, Alain Bashung: the list of artists who have graced its stage reads like a rock 'n' roll hall of fame. In 1989, Le Plan expanded from 150 to 600 seats, becoming a major force in the dissemination of rock music nationwide.
Certified as a SMAC by the Ministry of Culture, Le Plan has expanded its programming well beyond rock over the decades. Today, the season runs from October to June and features over 50 concerts covering a very wide musical spectrum: rock, metal, punk, indie, hip-hop, reggae, soul, blues, electronic, French chanson. This aesthetic diversity, without hierarchy between genres, reflects the SMAC's ambition to appeal to all audiences in the region.
Beyond concerts, Le Plan offers remarkable facilities for musicians and music professionals: two rehearsal studios, a recording control room, artist residencies, and professional training programs. A resident artist works each year in collaboration with the Le Plan teams on creation, recording, and training projects. The restaurant Le Plan B, adjacent to the venue, complements the convivial atmosphere.
Le Plan's 2025-2026 season confirmed the richness of the venue's programming. Among the highlights of the rock and metal program, the We Metal Fest — festival on April 4th and 5th, 2026 — brought together fourteen metal bands including Rise of the Northstar, Ten56. and Lofofora in the main hall. The season also hosted numerous pop, indie rock, and electro artists including Pi Ja Ma (February 20th, 2026), confirming the artistic diversity of the SMAC's project.
Le Plan's 2026-2027 season is currently being programmed. True to its eclectic and ambitious DNA, the venue will offer a new concert season combining internationally renowned artists and emerging discoveries, with a strong focus on rock, metal, and contemporary music. The full program will be available on leplan.com.
Supported by the City of Ris-Orangis, the Departmental Council of Essonne, the Île-de-France Region, and the Ministry of Culture, Le Plan plays a decisive role in the cultural life of the department. Its policy of residencies, outreach, and arts education makes it a partner of schools and community organizations in the Évry-Courcouronnes agglomeration.
Le Plan's 2026-2027 season is under programming. Over 50 concerts of rock, metal, hip-hop, soul, and contemporary music in two venues in Ris-Orangis. Program to be found on leplan.com from summer 2026.
The 2026-2027 season of Le Plan will open in September 2026 with a new, rich, and eclectic program. Île-de-France's largest SMAC will continue to offer concerts combining nationally and internationally recognized artists with emerging talent, in its 830-seat main hall and 150-seat club.
