The Fête de Ris-Orangis: a festive town on the Seine
Ris-Orangis is a municipality in Essonne with approximately 26,000 inhabitants, located on the left bank of the Seine between Évry-Courcouronnes and Viry-Châtillon. A popular and dynamic town, it offers its residents a varied festive calendar throughout the year.
The Fête des Curieux
The most original festive event in Ris-Orangis is the Fête des Curieux, held each early October at the Maison du Passeur. Over five days (Wednesday to Sunday), this unique event combines accessible gastronomy, music, and performance:
- Gastronomy: quality dishes offered at affordable prices, allowing everyone to discover the flavors of invited artists and restaurateurs
- Established and emerging artists: concerts and stage performances covering various styles
- Sharing moments: a friendly atmosphere conducive to meeting people, whether with family, friends, or alone
The Maison du Passeur, a cultural venue in Ris-Orangis, provides a warm and intimate setting for this off-the-beaten-path event.
The Fête de la Musique
Every June 21st, Ris-Orangis celebrates the Fête de la Musique with free open-air concerts. Organized by the town, the event features an eclectic musical program in the streets and public spaces of the municipality, accessible free of charge to all.
Annual Events
The festive calendar of Ris-Orangis also includes:
- Bastille Day (July 14th): fireworks and festive events
- Beaujolais Nouveau (November): tasting of the new vintage at the municipal market with entertainment
