About Coupes Auto Légende

Every October, the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry (91310) hosts the Coupes Auto Légende, the largest European gathering of historic cars. Six race categories, from pre-war to youngtimers, over 200 drivers, an exhibitors' village, and track parades make this event a global meeting point for historic automobile enthusiasts.

The Coupes Auto Légende de Montlhéry: Automotive Legend on Track

Some places make automotive history. The Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry, built in 1924 and inaugurated on October 4th of that year, is one of them. Located straddling the towns of Linas and Montlhéry in Essonne, this historic circuit, unique in Europe—with its characteristic high-banked speed ring—has seen the greatest automotive champions: René Dreyfus, Achille Varzi, Tazio Nuvolari, Juan Manuel Fangio...

A Centenary Circuit Unique in Europe

The Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry is now managed by the UTAC (Union Technique de l'Automobile, du Motocycle et du Cycle). Its speed ring, 2.5 km in circumference and banked at 51° on the turns, is one of the last banked test tracks in Europe. Classified as a historic monument, it continues to host numerous automotive events each year.

The circuit was the setting for the ACF Grand Prix from 1925 to 1937, and for speed records and endurance record attempts for decades. Today, it is a living memorial to French automotive history.

The Coupes Auto Légende: The Largest Gathering in Europe

Created to celebrate historic cars in all their diversity, the Coupes Auto Légende have become the unmissable annual event for historic automobile enthusiasts. Held every second weekend of October on the autodrome, they bring together:

  • Over 200 drivers competing on the historic track
  • Six thematic categories: pre-war cars, popular models, mini-bombs, maxi-bombs, GT & Prestige, and anniversary vehicles
  • A sales village with dealers of historic cars, spare parts, and accessories
  • A swap meet for collectors
  • Demonstrations on the centenary track
  • Parades of classic and legendary cars
  • Thematic exhibitions on automotive history

Six Categories for All Tastes

The richness of the Coupes Auto Légende lies in the diversity of its categories:

  • Pre-war: Cars built before 1945, witnesses to a heroic era of motoring
  • Popular: Cars of the people, Citroën 2CV, Renault 4L, Volkswagen Beetle
