Festival du Film de la Vallée de Chevreuse: Committed Cinema in the Land of Chevreuse
The Festival du Film de la Vallée de Chevreuse (FFVC) is a unique cinematic event born from the passion of the association ALC — Accueil Loisirs Culture de Chevreuse for short films and societal issues. Organized every October in the charming medieval town of Chevreuse, in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse, the festival has successfully created an anticipated event for cinema lovers and aspiring filmmakers.
A Demanding Thematic Competition
Each edition of the FFVC is built around a unifying theme that guides the film selection. Past themes reflect contemporary concerns: “Take Care of…” in 2023, “Differences” in 2024, “Metamorphoses” in 2025. The submitted short films — ranging from 2 to 15 minutes — must be fiction, documentaries, or animated films offering perspectives on living together, the environment, and sustainable development. About twenty films are selected for the official competition and screened during a day of public screenings in October.
Awards to Discover Talents
The FFVC awards several prestigious prizes that recognize the different facets of filmmaking: Best Screenplay Award, Best Direction Award, Best Actress Award and Best Actor Award, Best Animated Film Award, Youth Award, Jury Award, and the highly coveted Audience Award “Brâme du Cerf”, a nod to the natural heritage of the Chevreuse Valley. These distinctions offer emerging filmmakers valuable recognition and visibility within the short film festival circuit.
Chevreuse, a Medieval Setting for the Seventh Art
The choice of Chevreuse as the festival's host town is no accident. This commune with a rich medieval heritage — dominated by the ruins of the Château de la Madeleine — is the beating heart of the Chevreuse Valley, a territory that inspires many artists. The FFVC contributes to the cultural vibrancy of this picturesque town and promotes the Regional Natural Park to a cinephile audience.
