The great agricultural festival of Seine-et-Marne organized by Jeunes Agriculteurs
The Festival de la Terre de Seine-et-Marne is the largest agricultural festival in the department, organized every year in September by the Jeunes Agriculteurs de Seine-et-Marne (JA 77). For 37 editions, this popular and family-friendly event celebrates agriculture, local produce, and rural life in Brie through spectacular activities: moiss'batt'cross, tractor and helicopter rides, carriage rides, educational farm, local produce market, and a giant raffle. Each edition is held in a different town in the department and attracts around 10,000 visitors.
Since 1988, the Festival de la Terre de Seine-et-Marne has been the annual meeting place for all those who love the land, agriculture, and rural life. Organized by the Jeunes Agriculteurs de Seine-et-Marne (JA 77), this traveling festival is held every first Sunday of September in a different town in the department, showcasing the diversity of Seine-et-Marne's terroirs.
The Festival de la Terre is above all a popular and family-friendly festival that brings together city dwellers and rural residents to discover the world of agriculture. The activities, as spectacular as they are fun, have made the event famous:
The ephemeral local produce market is a highlight of the day. Producers from Seine-et-Marne present and sell their specialties: Brie cheeses (Meaux and Melun AOP), honey, cider, apple juice, jams, seasonal vegetables, farm-raised meats, and artisanal breads. This market allows visitors to leave with a basket of local Brie products.
The "Jeu des 1 000 lots" (Game of 1,000 prizes) is an essential tradition of the festival. This giant raffle offers exceptional prizes donated by agricultural partners and local businesses, creating a moment of anticipation and celebration shared by the entire audience.
The festival is driven by the Jeunes Agriculteurs de Seine-et-Marne, a union representing farmers under 35 years old. Through this event, JA pursues a dual objective: to promote the farming profession to the general public and to create a link between the rural and urban worlds in a department that, despite being the largest in Île-de-France, sees its agriculture increasingly unknown to urban residents.
Each year, the festival is held in a different town in Seine-et-Marne, chosen by the organizing canton. This itinerant nature allows for the showcasing of the department's various terroirs, from Brie des blés to Gâtinais, including Brie des fromages and Bocage briard. The 2025 edition will be held in Villebéon, in the south of the department.
The 38th edition of the Festival de la Terre de Seine-et-Marne will be held on the first Sunday of September 2026. As every year, the agricultural festival will offer moiss'batt'cross, an educational farm, tractor rides, a local produce market, and a giant raffle in a town in Seine-et-Marne.
The Festival de la Terre de Seine-et-Marne returns for its 38th edition on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The host town will be announced in the spring by the Jeunes Agriculteurs de Seine-et-Marne.
The program will include the activities that have made this popular event a success for over three decades: the spectacular moiss'batt'cross, tractor and helicopter rides, carriage rides, the educational farm, the local produce market with Seine-et-Marne producers, and the traditional giant raffle with 1,000 prizes.
