A humor festival in the heart of Nord-Charente
Festivasteur — or Festiv'Asteur — is a traveling humor festival created by the association Les Zygomatiques Charentais, based in Souvigné, in Charente. The festival's name plays on the Charente word “asteur,” which means “now”: a nod to the local linguistic heritage and an invitation to enjoy the present moment. Every summer, in July, the festival takes over several towns in Nord-Charente — Tusson, Courcôme, Villefagnan, and Souvigné — to offer humor shows accessible to the whole family.
A traveling and friendly format
Festivasteur's unique feature is its traveling format. Instead of concentrating the programming in a single location, the festival moves from village to village, transforming each town into an open-air stage. This concept promotes proximity between artists and the public, in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Shows are held in various venues — village squares, community halls, outdoor spaces — creating a dynamic of discovery that invites spectators to explore the region.
An eclectic program centered around humor
Festivasteur's programming covers a wide spectrum of humor arts: comedy theater, improvisation, stand-up, magic, and quirky musical shows. The association Les Zygomatiques Charentais selects artists with diverse styles, mixing headliners and emerging companies. Introductory workshops in theater and comedy are also offered in the mornings, led by a theater teacher, allowing participants to try their hand at the art of making people laugh.
A festival rooted in the rural fabric
Festivasteur is part of a strategy for cultural revitalization of the rural territories of Nord-Charente. By investing small towns, the festival contributes to local animation and social cohesion, while offering residents access to quality shows without having to travel to big cities. Tickets are available through the HelloAsso platform and at the Ruffec Tourist Office.
