The free and popular festival on the banks of the Ouanne in Château-Renard
Created in 1996 by the Vox Populi association, Festivox is a free festival that takes place every year on Pentecost weekend on the Île du Vieux Pont in Château-Renard, in the Loiret. For two days, this popular and intergenerational event offers a demanding and mixed musical program combining French song, rock, pop, and world music, on the banks of the Ouanne river. Supported by volunteers, Festivox welcomes around 4,000 spectators in a friendly guinguette atmosphere with concerts, shows for young audiences, and family entertainment.
Since 1996, Festivox has established itself as an essential cultural event in the Gâtinais and southern Loiret regions. Organized by the Vox Populi association, this free outdoor festival is held every year on Pentecost weekend on the Île du Vieux Pont in Château-Renard, an enchanting site nestled on the banks of the Ouanne river. The event was originally created to fund the renovation work of the Vox cinema, an associative cultural venue in the heart of the village.
True to its commitment to a demanding, popular, and mixed program, Festivox offers a rich and varied musical panorama each year. Rock, pop, French song, Latin music, Balkan music, blues, funk, hip-hop, and world music are featured on the festival's stages. Over the years, Festivox has hosted quality artists such as Nosfell, Claudio Capéo, Radio Elvis, Gérald Genty, Eric Toulis, The Sassy Swingers, They Call Me Rico, Johnny Montreuil, Manu Lanvin, and Soma Cumbia.
Beyond the concerts, Festivox stands out for its rich artistic entertainment and activities for all ages. Each year features shows for young audiences, slam and poetry workshops, open stages for all artistic disciplines, fire shows, outdoor short film screenings, and eco-themed activities. The concept of an ephemeral guinguette by the water offers an ideal setting for a moment of relaxation and sharing with family or friends.
Festivox is an entirely free event, funded through partnerships and the energy of a dedicated team of volunteers. The Vox Populi association, created in 1994, also manages the Vox cinema, a 66-seat associative cinema located on Place du Vieux Marché in Château-Renard. The festival is part of a movement for cultural democratization in rural areas, aiming to bring together all audiences, ages, and social classes around a quality popular celebration.
The Île du Vieux Pont site, at the confluence of the Ouanne river branches, offers a unique green setting for the festival. Spectators can enjoy concerts with their feet in the grass, by the water, in a bucolic and rural atmosphere typical of the Gâtinais region. Festivox takes place alongside the Château-Renard trade fair, creating a complete festive weekend for this town of 2,500 inhabitants.
With nearly three decades of existence, Festivox embodies the spirit of an ambitious local festival, rooted in its territory and open to the world, proving that free access and artistic excellence can go hand in hand.
The 29th edition of Festivox will be held on May 23 and 24, 2026, on the Île du Vieux Pont in Château-Renard, on Pentecost weekend. Two days of free concerts, shows, and outdoor entertainment on the banks of the Ouanne, in the guinguette spirit that has marked the festival since 1996.
