The urban cultures festival of Saint-Jean-de-Braye
Urb'Braye is the biennial urban cultures festival of Saint-Jean-de-Braye, in the Loiret region. Organized by the City in partnership with Urban Art Agency and Orlinside, it offers a festive and free day combining initiations to urban arts and sports — graffiti, skateboard, BMX, breakdance, parkour, freestyle football — and rap, hip-hop, and contemporary music concerts. Primarily aimed at 11-25 year olds, the festival is open to all audiences and takes place on the Plaine du Pont Bordeau.
Launched in 2023 by the City of Saint-Jean-de-Braye, the Urb'Braye festival is a biennial, entirely free event dedicated to urban arts, sports, and music. Held in alternation with the L'Embrayage festival, it takes over the Plaine du Pont Bordeau, a vast outdoor space in the heart of the eponymous district, for a day of initiations, demonstrations, and concerts.
The primary target audience for Urb'Braye is youth aged 11 to 25, but the festival aims to be unifying and offers activities and initiations for all ages. The afternoon is dedicated to participatory workshops: graffiti, skateboard customization, creation of a collective mural, initiation to BMX, skateboarding, breakdance, parkour, freestyle football, beatmaking, and DJ scratching. Local associations also run stands for health prevention and employment/integration information, forming a true youth village.
In the evening, the Plaine du Pont Bordeau transforms into an open-air concert venue. The musical lineup mixes national headliners and regional artists, with a focus on hip-hop, rap, and urban music. The first edition in 2023 featured the legendary group Sniper (with Tunisiano and Aketo), while the second edition in 2025 highlighted Marseille rapper Demi Portion, Belgian rapper-beatmaker Peet, and R&B singer Eline, alongside artists from the Orléans scene like Anagramms, Cleson, SouljaKgb, and Xs.
From its very first edition, the City of Saint-Jean-de-Braye has committed Urb'Braye to a zero-carbon approach: assessing event-related emissions, implementing selective sorting stations, and offsetting by planting trees before the end of the year. The festival favors short supply chains with food trucks offering a varied catering selection.
The programming is managed by the City of Saint-Jean-de-Braye in collaboration with Urban Art Agency (national scene and artistic activities) and Orlinside (local artists and regional scene). The budget for the second edition amounted to €147,200, reflecting the community's investment in this structuring event for the territory.
The third edition of the Urb'Braye festival is expected in the summer of 2027 at the Plaine du Pont Bordeau in Saint-Jean-de-Braye, in line with the festival's biennial rhythm (alternating with L'Embrayage in even-numbered years). The programming and registration details will be announced later by the City of Saint-Jean-de-Braye.
The Urb'Braye festival will return for its third edition in the summer of 2027, maintaining its biennial rhythm in alternation with the L'Embrayage festival. The event will take place at the Plaine du Pont Bordeau in Saint-Jean-de-Braye.
