The emerging music festival in the heart of Orléans
Since 2016, the Hop Pop Hop festival has established itself as the unmissable event of the Orléans cultural season. Driven by L'Astrolabe, a contemporary music venue labeled SMAC, this urban festival celebrates musical discovery and emergence every September in the heart of Orléans' historic center, at the foot of the Sainte-Croix cathedral.
Hop Pop Hop embodies the idea of movement, space, and circulation. The festival unfolds across four to five venues just minutes apart: the Campo Santo, a vast grassy cloister classified as a historic monument, the Jardin de l'Évêché (until 2022), the Théâtre d'Orléans (National Stage), the Salle de l'Institut on Place Sainte-Croix, and the CCNO. This urban and centralized format allows the public to move freely between outdoor stages and concert halls, creating a collective festive experience where the spectator becomes the true protagonist.
Each edition brings together around thirty groups and artists from Europe and beyond, selected for the quality and originality of their offerings. The festival blends musical influences without borders: indie rock, electro, post-punk, hip-hop, world music, experimental pop, chanson. Among the artists who have marked past editions: Squid, Étienne de Crécy, Girls in Hawaii, Gilla Band, Ibibio Sound Machine, Protomartyr, Altın Gün, Deadletter, Kokoko!, Moonlight Benjamin, Karkwa, and Do Nothing.
In addition to the paid program, the festival offers the Hop Pop Off, a free component including exhibitions, concerts, DJ sets, and performances in various locations in the city, notably the Hop'n'Up village at the Cour de l'Hôtel Dupanloup. This initiative reinforces the festival's popular and accessible vocation.
In ten editions, over 342 groups have graced the stages of Hop Pop Hop. The festival has grown while retaining its identity: a bold program, a warm atmosphere, and strong territorial roots. Supported by the City of Orléans, Orléans Métropole, DRAC Centre-Val de Loire, the Loiret Department, the Centre-Val de Loire Region, and the Centre National de la Musique, Hop Pop Hop benefits from the Nouvelles Renaissances Effervescences label.
With attendance ranging from 2,000 to 3,500 festival-goers per day depending on the edition, Hop Pop Hop cultivates the spirit of a human-scale festival, where proximity to artists and quality listening remain paramount. The cashless payment system, food trucks, Shop Pop Hop store, and reduced-price parking complete an experience designed for the public's comfort.
The 11th edition of the Hop Pop Hop festival will take place on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12, 2026, in the heart of Orléans' historic center, at the foot of Sainte-Croix Cathedral. True to its pioneering spirit, the emerging music festival will spread its program across four venues (two open-air stages, two halls) just a few minutes from each other: the Campo Santo, the Théâtre d'Orléans, the Salle de l'Institut, and the CCNO. Around thirty artists with hybrid and avant-garde styles are expected.
