Summer celebration on the banks of the Loire in Beaugency
Since 2015, Les Estivales de Beaugency have transformed this medieval city in the Loire Valley into a vibrant open-air living space every summer. Organized by the City of Beaugency with the support of about thirty associative, cultural, and sports partners, this free and multidisciplinary event offers seven weeks of activities for all audiences, in a spirit of sharing and conviviality.
The Estivales program happily blends music, live performance, cinema, sports, and heritage. Outdoor concerts take over the Loire quays every weekend, with a wide musical palette: blues, Latin music, cumbia, French chanson, rock, and world music. The Thursday evening 'P'tites Scènes' offer regular musical encounters in an intimate atmosphere.
Open-air cinema, street performances, and theatrical creations—such as the fire show 'Fury' by Les Zoolians or the Indonesian shadow theater of the Mahābhārata—add a unique artistic touch. Children benefit from adapted performances, with plays like 'Héraklès' or 'Luce et Lucien'.
Over a hundred free workshops are offered throughout the summer, divided into four areas: culture, sports, environment and science, and creative hobbies. Sports activities are varied: homeball, yoga, slackline, handball, beach volleyball, athletics, climbing, archery, canoeing-kayaking, and strength training. A scent trail, land art workshops, basket weaving, and mosaic workshops complete the creative offerings.
The Quai Dunois, an emblematic festival venue, transforms into a true urban beach with a sandy area for team games, ping-pong tables, deckchairs, and a welcome chalet offering free balls, rackets, and beach games. La Cabane de Loire provides catering with themed evenings: barbecues on Tuesdays, concerts on Thursdays, tapas on Sundays.
Each edition of Les Estivales is marked by highlights: the Bastille Day celebration on July 14th with its parade and fireworks launched from the bridge over the Loire, the night markets, guided heritage tours with the Office de Tourisme Terres du Val de Loire, and the American Day with vintage cars and motorcycles, Miss Pin-up election, and country dancing. The festival traditionally concludes with a grand final fireworks display.
Les Estivales embody the City of Beaugency's commitment to making the city lively and welcoming for its residents as well as for visitors and tourists. By occupying the banks of the Loire, the historic town center, and the various neighborhoods, the festival showcases the exceptional heritage of this small classified Loire town, while creating social and intergenerational connections in a warm and popular atmosphere.
The 12th edition of the Estivales de Beaugency will take place from July 3 to August 23, 2026 on the banks of the Loire and in the historic city center. Seven weeks of free entertainment including concerts, shows, open-air cinema, sports and cultural workshops, guided heritage tours, and a closing fireworks display during American Day on August 23.
