Orléans Kizomba Festival: African dance comes to the Loiret

The Orléans Kizomba Festival is the first festival entirely dedicated to kizomba and Afro-Latin dances in the Orléans metropolitan area. Spearheaded by the Association Afro Lat'IN Connexion (ALC), this ambitious event aims to bring together the community of kizomba, semba, urbankiz, tarraxo, and afro dancers in a festive, friendly, and family atmosphere.

A Rich Three-Day Program

The festival unfolds over a full weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, offering a dense and varied program:

  • 12 hours of workshops led by nationally renowned artists and instructors, covering kizomba, semba, urbankiz, tarraxo, and afro.
  • 2 dance parties on Friday and Saturday evenings, hosted by exceptional DJs.
  • 2 social dance sessions on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, for free practice in a relaxed atmosphere.

Talented Artists and DJs

For this first edition, the festival welcomes renowned artist couples in the kizomba scene:

  • Lilian and Ivana
  • Landry and Windy
  • Steven's Mkz'Fa and Audrey Csty Mkz'Fa
  • Curtis Lpk and Kelly
  • BeePee and Marta

On the music side, the decks are entrusted to a selection of talented DJs: DJ Lisa Rose, DJ Dani Fernandes, DJ Angelo, DJ Kouan, and DJ Chico, who will keep the dancers energized until the early hours.

An Exceptional Venue near Orléans

The festival takes place at the Espace Chantemelles, a modern reception hall located in Ingré, just 10 minutes from the center of Orléans. With a capacity of up to 350 people and an area of 365 m², this versatile space offers an ideal setting for daytime workshops and evening parties. Access is easy via the A10 motorway, exit 14 (Orléans-Nord), direction Pôle 45.

Kizomba: A Dance from Angola

Kizomba is a dance of Angolan origin that emerged in the 1980s, blending influences from traditional semba and Caribbean rhythms. Characterized by its sensual movements, intimate connection between partners, and deep musicality, it has conquered dance floors worldwide. Semba, older and faster, tarraxo with its electronic sounds, and urbankiz, a modern and creative fusion, complete this ever-evolving family of dances.

The Association Afro Lat'IN Connexion

Founded in Orléans, the Association Afro Lat'IN Connexion is committed to promoting Afro-Latin dances in the Loiret region. It offers regular classes and practice sessions in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin and organizes events to unite the local dance community. The Orléans Kizomba Festival represents the culmination of this effort, with the ambition to place Orléans on the map of kizomba festivals in France.
