The Fête de la Musique in Pantin: one city, many stages, all genres
Every June 21st, the city of Pantin celebrates the Fête de la Musique by enlivening its squares, streets, and cultural venues with a free and diverse program. A dynamic commune bordering Paris, Pantin is a city of culture and creation, where contemporary music artists, classical ensembles, and cultural associations from all backgrounds coexist.
The Pantin Fête de la Musique unfolds in several stages and locations, allowing every resident to find musical entertainment to their taste, just a stone's throw from home. The day begins in the morning with classical concerts and continues into the heart of the night with contemporary music performances and DJ sets.
Place de la Pointe: the festival's central stage
The Place de la Pointe, a symbolic heart of Pantin's city center, is the hub of the Fête de la Musique. An open stage is set up from 5 PM, allowing amateur musicians to perform for the public. Professionals take over in the evening with a program blending gospel, rap, world music, and popular songs. The square also hosts DJ sets to close the evening, extending the celebration in a festive atmosphere until midnight.
Sainte-Marthe des Quatre-Chemins Church
The Fête de la Musique in Pantin partners with heritage and cultural sites to offer concerts in more intimate settings. The Sainte-Marthe des Quatre-Chemins Church hosts an orchestral concert on the Friday evening before June 21st, featuring young professional musicians from the ensemble L'Orphéon, offering beautiful acoustics for a symphonic program accessible to all.
The Orchestre d'harmonie de Pantin, the city's emblematic musical ensemble, usually performs in the morning at the market square for the Fête de la Musique, allowing residents to encounter the local large ensemble while shopping.
La Dynamo and Banlieues Bleues
La Dynamo, a concert venue dedicated to jazz and improvised music, owned by the association Banlieues Bleues, also organizes its own events on June 21st. Musical action concerts and participatory workshops are held there, complementing the municipal program and contributing to making Pantin an exceptional musical hub on the day of the Fête de la Musique.
The Rue Voltaire, a commercial and lively street in the Quatre-Chemins district, also comes alive with impromptu street concerts, small musical groups, and passing artists who contribute to the day's festive atmosphere.
A tradition of sharing and diversity
Pantin is a city of social and cultural diversity, and the Fête de la Musique reflects this. The variety of musical offerings—from traditional brass bands to electronic sets, from classical choirs to world music ensembles—invites every resident, regardless of age or musical taste, to embrace public space and celebrate music together in all its expressions.
