The Fête de Meroux-Moval: Two Villages, One Festival

Meroux-Moval (90400) is a commune in the Territoire de Belfort, created on January 1, 2019, from the merger of the communes of Meroux and Moval. This administrative merger united two neighboring villages with parallel histories, in a context of administrative rationalization that affected many communes in the department. The new commune has approximately 1,500 inhabitants and is administered from the town hall at 2 Place de la Mairie, 90400 Meroux.

Despite—or thanks to—this recent merger, the festive life has adapted and enriched itself: the summer festival is now an opportunity to celebrate the unity of the two former villages and to strengthen the bonds between populations that have long lived side by side.

The Comité des Fêtes de Meroux et Moval: A Story of Loyalty

The Comité des Fêtes de Meroux et Moval is an association founded on February 28, 1992, with over thirty years of existence. This exceptional longevity testifies to the volunteers' commitment to their mission: to organize a popular festival worthy of the best Franche-Comté traditions each year. The association is supported by the 29 associations in the commune, which allows for the mobilization of a large number of volunteers to ensure a high-quality festival.

A Complete Festive Program

The Fête de Meroux-Moval is generally held in the summer, on the communal grounds near the town hall:

• Children's Entertainment: inflatable games, sports structures, creative workshops, magic or juggling shows
• Pétanque Tournament: friendly competition open to amateurs from the entire Belfort region
• Refreshments and Food Stalls: grilled meats, sausage and fries, mussels and fries depending on the edition, cold drinks, and craft beers
• Communal Meal: a large, friendly meal that brings together the inhabitants of Meroux and Moval in a spirit of community unity
• Evening Party and Popular Ball: a cover band or rock concert, or a DJ, to liven up the evening until midnight

Meroux-Moval in the Dynamics of Grand Belfort

The commune of Meroux-Moval is located in a strategic area of the Territoire de Belfort, close to the Belfort-Mulhouse-Basel airport (Euroairport). This location gives the commune a particular international exposure and integrates it into the development projects of the airport zone. The summer festival, in this context, is a strong local anchor, a reminder that behind the modern infrastructure, there are inhabitants attached to their traditions.

The commune also has a model-making workshop (Meroux Model Kit), demonstrating the diversity of local associative activities that enrich community life beyond just festive events.
