46th Fête d'la Brioche - Chavagnes-en-Paillers, June 7, 2025
The 46th edition of the Fête d'la Brioche brought together thousands of visitors at the Complexe Sportif Trophée Mondial in Chavagnes-en-Paillers on Sunday, June 7, 2025. With sunshine and the scent of rising dough in the air, the festival lived up to its promises in a festive, family-friendly, and gourmet atmosphere.
From the opening, local bakers set up their wood-fired ovens and began kneading the giant doughs before the eyes of the visitors. The baking of the braided Vendéen brioches, with their soft crumb flavored with orange blossom and vanilla, was the main attraction of the morning. Children could participate in the baking workshops and leave with their own small brioche made with their own hands.
The best Vendéen brioche contest saw amateur and professional bakers from the bocage compete, judged on the braid, color, texture, and aromas. The brioche eating contest drew laughter and cheers from the assembled crowd. The local producers' market -- honeys, jams, goat cheeses, Fiefs Vendéens wines -- completed this beautiful popular day in the Vendée bocage.
