National Day in Charenton-le-Pont: July 14th at the Confluence
The town of Charenton-le-Pont (94220) occupies an exceptional geographical position, at the confluence of the Seine and the Marne. This remarkable natural setting offers an ideal backdrop for the July 14th festivities, which the town organizes each year with care to bring its inhabitants together in a celebration that is both patriotic and festive.
A Festive Evening Program
The July 14th festivities in Charenton-le-Pont generally begin in the late afternoon with open-air entertainment in the parks or on the riverbanks. A music stage is set up to host local artists or regional bands who liven up the evening with popular music, French songs, and festive tunes.
Food stalls, a refreshment stand, and children's entertainment complete the program, creating a popular fairground atmosphere where Charenton families happily gather. The Charenton firefighters' refreshment stand is often present, true to the tradition of July 13th.
Fireworks on the Rivers
The highlight of the evening is the pyromusical fireworks display, launched from the banks of the Marne or the Seine at dusk. The position at the confluence of the two rivers offers multiple viewpoints of the pyrotechnic show, allowing everyone to find the ideal spot to admire the luminous bursts that light up the Charenton sky. The reflections in the water of the two rivers add an extra visual dimension to the spectacle.
Charenton, a City of Diversity
Charenton-le-Pont is a dynamic and diverse city, whose population includes residents from very varied backgrounds. July 14th is an occasion to celebrate together the republican values that unite this diverse community in a common project. The national holiday is thus a key moment for togetherness and social cohesion for the city.
