Its name, from medieval Latin Vini-cellulae (wine cellars), testifies to its historical role as a place for storing and shipping regional wines to Paris via the Yonne river. Today, Vincelottes proudly perpetuates this wine-growing tradition and celebrates its Patronal Festival every April.
Vincelottes is one of the most beautiful villages in the Auxerrois, bordered by the Yonne river and surrounded by vineyards. Its troglodyte cellars dug into the limestone cliff, its beautiful winegrower residences, and its picturesque quays make it a little-known gem of Burgundy.
