Each year in July, the commune of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, located at the gates of Dax in the Landes department, celebrates its patronal festival with five intense days of festivities. Organized by the festival committee in collaboration with local associations, these days are a must-attend event of the Landes summer, blending age-old traditions with contemporary entertainment.

Landes Races at the Heart of the Festivities

A true emblem of Landes culture, the formal Landes races are the highlight of these festivals. In the Saint-Paul-lès-Dax arena, the 'écarteurs' (bull dodgers) and 'sauters' (jumpers) face the Landes cows in a spectacle of bravery, elegance, and tradition. The races are accompanied by bandas that set the rhythm of each round with their lively music. Spectators, dressed in white and red, experience these moments with infectious enthusiasm that has made Landes festivals famous.
