Fête de la Musique in Montrouge: 100% local artists on 5 stages on June 21st
Every June 21st, Montrouge celebrates the Fête de la Musique with a program of 100% local artists on five outdoor stages. Place Émile-Cresp, Square Robert Doisneau, Jardin Toscan, Place de l'Aquapol, and Église Saint-Joseph host free concerts ranging from groove to gospel, including brass bands and French chanson. A festive and popular event in the heart of this Hauts-de-Seine commune.
Montrouge has made a strong and original choice for its Fête de la Musique: to exclusively showcase local talent. Each year, the June 21st program is entirely composed of 100% Montrouge artists, offering a unique platform for the commune's musical vitality.
On June 21st, Montrouge transforms into a true urban festival with five simultaneous stages taking over the town's public spaces:
The beating heart of Montrouge's Fête de la Musique is Place Émile-Cresp, transformed into a large outdoor stage starting at 5:30 PM. This main stage hosts the most significant acts of the program, in front of a large audience enjoying the early June evening.
In 2025, the 5:30 PM opening was by Soul Ki Peut, a big band of ten musicians offering a festive and infectious groove. At 6:15 PM, Damien took over with a mix of French chanson, pop, and reggae.
Square Robert Doisneau hosts concerts from 4:30 PM to 10 PM. In 2025, the choir Change de Ton performed there at 7 PM. This lively garden offers an intimate and green setting for evening concerts.
Jardin Toscan, a green space recognizable by its Mediterranean vegetation, offers concerts from 5:30 PM to midnight. In 2025, the group Montrouge à Lèvres performed there at 7:30 PM in a relaxed and festive atmosphere until nightfall.
Place de l'Aquapol hosts evening concerts. In 2025, the Orchestre d'Harmonie de Montrouge performed there at 8:30 PM, offering a moment of classical music and popular repertoire arranged for a large orchestra.
Église Saint-Joseph (5 rue Henri Barbusse) opens its doors at 4 PM to host vocal music concerts. In 2025, the choir SoLaRé presented a program ranging from Purcell to the Beatles, demonstrating the versatility and quality of Montrouge's choral groups.
By choosing to invite only local artists, Montrouge's Fête de la Musique asserts a strong identity. It's a bet on the richness of the commune's musical life—conservatory, music schools, choirs, amateur orchestras, and professional groups—and a recognition of local talent often unknown to the general public.
