Musical Babel: all the world's cultures celebrate on June 21st
Sarcelles, a cosmopolitan town in the Val-d'Oise often nicknamed "Little Jerusalem" for the diversity of its communities, celebrates the Fête de la Musique on June 21st with a program that reflects the extraordinary cultural richness of its population. Afro-Caribbean, Oriental, European, and urban music meet on the town's stages for an extraordinary musical celebration.
Every June 21st, Sarcelles celebrates the Fête de la Musique with a program that perfectly embodies the cultural diversity of this town of over 60,000 inhabitants. Often presented as one of the most cosmopolitan towns in France, Sarcelles brings together communities from all corners of the world — the Antilles, sub-Saharan Africa, the Maghreb, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and Israel — who enrich every cultural expression with their own identity.
The Fête de la Musique in Sarcelles is the living reflection of this human mosaic. The program, developed in collaboration with local cultural associations, brings together artists from very diverse musical backgrounds:
The Grand-Place of Sarcelles, the administrative and commercial heart of the town, usually hosts the main stage of the Fête de la Musique. But the event also extends to the different neighborhoods of the town — the Grand Ensemble, the Cité Nouvelle, the Lochères — where local stages entertain residents who don't have to travel far to enjoy the concerts.
The richness of the Sarcelles Fête de la Musique relies heavily on the local associative fabric, which is particularly dense and active. Many community and inter-community cultural associations participate in the organization of the event, offering entertainment, musical workshops, and concerts that celebrate their musical heritage while opening it up to dialogue with other cultures present in the town.
Sarcelles is a young town, with a significant proportion of young people in its population. The Fête de la Musique is an opportunity for these young talents — rappers, beatmakers, singers, guitarists, DJs — to make themselves known and express their creativity. The town's stages are open to them on June 21st, in a spirit of discovery and intergenerational sharing.
All concerts and events organized as part of the Fête de la Musique in Sarcelles are free and accessible without reservation. This universal access to culture is a fundamental value of the municipality, aware of its responsibility towards a population, a significant part of which does not always have access to paid cultural activities.
The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Sarcelles will take place on Sunday, June 21st. Free concerts celebrating the town's cultural diversity, neighborhood stages, and musical entertainment are expected. The program will be announced by the town hall in spring 2026.
Sarcelles will once again host its cosmopolitan Fête de la Musique on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Free concerts on the Grand-Place, stages in the neighborhoods, and musical entertainment will reflect the unique cultural richness of this town. The program will be unveiled in spring 2026.
