About Fort Fort Lointain

Fort Fort Lointain is the grand medieval and fantasy festival of the Lyon metropolis. A quirky and family-friendly offshoot of the Yggdrasil festivals, this event transforms the Hippodrome de Parilly in Bron into a kingdom populated by mischievous trolls, intrepid princesses, and parodic heroes every September. Across 20,000 m² of open space, chivalry shows, passionate artisans, immersive quests, and enchanting music create a fantastic universe where young and old become the heroes of their own adventure.

Tickets →

Fort Fort Lointain returns on Saturday, September 5th, and Sunday, September 6th, 2026, at the Hippodrome de Parilly in Bron for its 11th edition, themed "Festum Draconum": Vikings and dragons. The new feature this year is Drakenfjord, an entire Viking village with a life-sized longship and 40 dragons hidden in the decor. Concerts return after a four-year absence, with La Rioule des Compagnons du Monde followed by Naheulband closing out Saturday night.

2026 Edition — Festum Draconum, September 5th and 6th at the Hippodrome de Parilly

The 11th edition of Fort Fort Lointain takes place on Saturday, September 5th, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, followed by the concert evening, and Sunday, September 6th, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Organizers expect over 15,000 visitors, 150 creators and exhibitors, and more than 40 troupes at the open-air hippodrome site, which has been expanded this year.

Festum Draconum and the Drakenfjord Village

The entire 2026 Yggdrasil season is dedicated to Festum Draconum, the festival of dragons. In Bron, it takes the form of Drakenfjord: a Viking island where young dragons from the multiverse spend the summer and where the inhabitants watch over them. The village features a 1:1 scale longship, 40 sleeping dragons hidden in the decor, a sacred fountain, and a Viking fire brigade tasked with handling fires caused by the dragonets.

Six Universes

  • Drakenfjord — the Viking and dragon village, 2026 new feature
  • The Medieval Kingdom — reenactment camp, behourd, equestrian demonstrations, and candy war machine
  • The Barrier Steampunk Camp — explorers, Rosetta Stone to decipher, experiments, and cabinet of curiosities
  • The Fantasy Universe — goblins, trolls, cane fighting, birds of prey in flight, and costume contests
  • Fort Fort Lointain, the Fairy Tale Kingdom — giant onion-shaped carriage, ogre's kitchen, and foam marsh
  • The Creators' Caravanserai — authors and illustrators at work

The Return of Concerts

After four years without a musical stage, concerts are back. The grand Saturday evening starts at 5:00 PM with La Rioule des Compagnons du Monde, narrative neo-folk, followed by Naheulband, the heroic brass band from the Dungeon of Naheulbeuk. It requires an Evening ticket in addition to general admission, available in limited numbers. During the day, Talers, Avaland, and La Band’Originale Lyonnaise perform at no extra cost.

The Guest of Honor

Arthur Pestel, voice actor, is the guest of honor for this edition: he is the voice of Snotlout in the How to Train Your Dragon saga, Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist, and Shin in Kingdom. Signings and meet-and-greets with the public both days.

Gaming All Weekend Long

The festival has its own gaming economy. You earn Ygg by completing troupe challenges, and one Ygg is gifted by each creator with every €15 purchase; they can be exchanged at the exit for souvenirs. The Key Hunt includes 4 quests and 24 enchanted locks that activate upon contact with a key and grant 4 badges. The Encounter Journal is stamped by festival characters and grants the Ambassador badge. Yggdrasil Coliséum, the new collectible card game, can be discovered in tournaments at the game area.

Fort Fort Lointain: A Fantastic Kingdom on the Outskirts of Lyon

Born from the boundless imagination of the Yggdrasil team, Fort Fort Lointain is the medieval and fantasy offshoot of France's most immersive imaginary festival. Every September, the Hippodrome de Parilly in Bron transforms into an enchanting kingdom where medieval fantasy meets quirky humor and benevolent parody. Here, dragons are mischievous, knights are clumsy, and princesses don't need saving.

Total Immersion in the Imaginary

Fort Fort Lointain unfolds its universe across 20,000 m² of open space, entirely decorated and staged. Visitors, costumed or not, are invited to dive into a parallel world where every corner holds a surprise. The living encampments recreate the daily life of a fantastical medieval village, populated by colorful characters who interact with the public throughout the day.

Epic and Wild Shows

The artistic program combines falconry shows, choreographed knightly combats, burlesque street theater, and masked balls. The invited troupes push the boundaries of live outdoor performance, offering shows that oscillate between technical prowess, emotion, and hearty laughter. Each edition offers its share of original creations designed specifically for the festival.

A Market of Artisans and Creators

Over 150 artisans and creators from all over France set up their stalls in the kingdom's alleys. Elven jewelry, handcrafted armor, illuminated grimoires, colorful potions, and fantastic objects are showcased in a market where artisanal know-how meets the world of fantasy. For gastronomy, ephemeral taverns offer revisited medieval specialties and steaming drinks that delight the taste buds of hungry adventurers.

Quests and Activities for All Ages

Fort Fort Lointain offers a range of immersive activities suitable for all audiences: adventure quests, archery, spell writing, enchanted herbalism, and creative workshops. Families are at the heart of the event, with specially designed trails for the youngest and participatory activities that turn every visitor into a character in the story.

Ten Years of Yggdrasil: A Lyon Saga

Fort Fort Lointain is part of the Yggdrasil adventure, launched over ten years ago by a team of imaginary world enthusiasts. Supported by the association Montchat en Fête, this saga has seen the birth of several thematic offshoots—steampunk, fantasy, fairy tales—all sharing a commitment to immersion and the joy of sharing.
