Festival of festive music on the Granzay-Gript church square
Created in 2019, Granzay'stival is a friendly and family-friendly music festival that takes over the church square of Granzay-Gript, a rural commune located a few minutes from Niort, at the beginning of July. Far from the big festival machines, this event focuses on authenticity, proximity, and the love of live music, by programming artists that bridge local discoveries, rising bands, and confirmed acts from the alternative circuits. Wandering brass bands, rock, ska, and world music concerts follow one another on the square's stage, in a warm atmosphere that makes this small festival a great moment of sharing.
There are festivals that don't aim to impress with international headliners, but that bet everything on the quality of welcome, human warmth, and musical discovery. Granzay'stival is one of them. Since 2019, this music festival has carved out a special place in the cultural landscape of the Niort region, by offering an evening of open-air concerts on the Granzay-Gript church square on the first Saturday of July.
Granzay-Gript, a rural commune of about a thousand inhabitants located a few kilometers east of Niort, was not destined to become a major hub for live music. Yet, it is precisely this unlikely location that gives the event its charm. The church square, with its heritage setting and village atmosphere, provides an intimate and warm backdrop for the concerts.
The philosophy of Granzay'stival can be summed up in a few words: authenticity, proximity, and love of live music. The programming connects local discoveries, artists on the rise, and established bands from the alternative scene, without trying to accumulate big names. What matters is the quality of the stage performances and the artists' ability to connect with the audience.
The event generally begins in the late afternoon, at 6 p.m., with wandering brass bands that parade through the village streets to warm up the atmosphere. Concerts then follow one another on the church square stage, mixing rock, festive music, ska, and world music, until the heart of the night.
Granzay'stival claims its family-friendly and accessible character. Prices are deliberately moderate, and the atmosphere is designed to welcome all audiences, from children to village elders. On-site catering and a refreshment stand complete the offering, in the spirit of a village festival revisited by music lovers.
Despite its youth—the festival was only created in 2019—Granzay'stival has already managed to build a loyal local audience while attracting festival-goers from the Niort area, seduced by the event's intimate and warm formula.
The 7th edition of Granzay'stival is expected on the first Saturday of July 2026 on the Granzay-Gript church square. The festival will continue its mission of offering open-air concerts mixing discoveries, festive music, and village conviviality.
Granzay'stival will return on Saturday, July 4, 2026, to the Granzay-Gript church square for its 7th edition. The program will be announced in the spring of 2026.
