Multidisciplinary and ecological open-air festival in Montbéliard
Created in 2013 by MA scène nationale – Pays de Montbéliard, the Green Days festival is a multidisciplinary and free event that takes over the streets, parks, and squares of Montbéliard every June. For several days, musicians, dancers, circus performers, visual artists, and actors present open-air shows centered around the concept of "human ecology." The festival celebrates the link between art, nature, and conviviality, transforming public space into an artistic playground accessible to all.
Launched in 2013 by MA scène nationale – Pays de Montbéliard, the Green Days festival was born from a desire to create an open-air artistic event rooted in the values of ecology, conviviality, and proximity. The concept of "human ecology," dear to the artistic direction of MA scène nationale, guides the entire program: it aims to explore the connections that human beings forge with a place, with nature, and with each other.
Green Days offers a resolutely multidisciplinary program mixing street theater, contemporary dance, circus, live music, visual arts, puppetry, and participatory performances. The shows take over Montbéliard's public spaces: Square Sponeck, Parc du Près-la-Rose, the Château des Ducs de Wurtemberg, the streets of the city center, and shop windows. The main stage, set up in the courtyard of the Hôtel de Sponeck, hosts concerts and shows throughout the festival.
One of the festival's hallmarks is the creation of ephemeral and temporary gardens that transform the city into a green setting. Unusual artistic routes invite the public to rediscover Montbéliard from a new perspective, with visual installations, concerts on the grass, and performances in unexpected locations. The festival emphasizes public participation with creative workshops, opportunities to meet artists, and moments of shared conviviality.
True to the public service mission of MA scène nationale, Green Days is an entirely free festival, open to all audiences. The approximately 60 events scheduled over several days attract families, the curious, and art lovers in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. The festival contributes to Montbéliard's summer cultural animation and highlights the city's urban and natural heritage.
Each edition brings together renowned companies and artists in the fields of street arts, dance, circus, and music. The festival is also a discovery platform for emerging companies, with a particular focus on contemporary creation and hybrid artistic forms.
