Indie Species: The Independent Scene Comes to Épinal

Created in the early 2020s by La Souris Verte, Épinal's contemporary music venue (SMAC), the Indie Species festival was born from the desire to dedicate a highlight event to independent music in the Vosges. Over several evenings spread throughout March, the festival offers a curated and eclectic program that showcases indie, alternative, and emerging artists from France and Europe.

A Program Between Discoveries and Indie Headliners

True to the spirit of the independent scene, Indie Species curates lineups where renowned indie names and blossoming talents share the stage. The festival covers a wide musical spectrum: intimate folk, alternative rock, post-punk, experimental electro, and noise. Among the artists who have marked past editions are Émilie Zoé, Thalia Zedek Band, La Mverte, Good Morning Sunshine, Infecticide, Med, and Julien Bouchard. Each evening is designed as a coherent sonic journey, combining two to three bands with complementary aesthetics.

La Souris Verte: A Venue for Contemporary Music

The festival takes place in the two rooms of La Souris Verte, located at 17 rue des États-Unis in Épinal, a short walk from the train station. Certified SMAC by the Ministry of Culture, this venue has a large room with 500 seats and a club with 150 seats, offering remarkable proximity between artists and the audience. The careful acoustics and warm atmosphere of the place enhance the immersion into each band's universe.

An Accessible and Friendly Event

Indie Species stands out for its deliberately accessible pricing policy, with evening passes starting at 8 euros and reduced-price festival passes, in line with the cultural openness dear to Épinal's SMAC. The festival actively contributes to the influence of the indie scene in the Grand Est region and participates in the discovery of new talents for a curious and informed audience.
