About L'Avide Jardin

Every late August, the L'Avide Jardin Festival transforms the village of Muttersholtz into an open-air live performance trail. Organized by the association LaCuisine, this unique festival invites spectators to wander in small groups through gardens, courtyards, houses, and natural spaces of the Alsatian Ried to discover short, singular creations made for the occasion: theater, puppetry, storytelling, music, dance, and poetic performances. A joyful, family-friendly, and artistically demanding event, in direct contact with life.

A live performance festival in the heart of the Alsatian Ried

The L'Avide Jardin Festival is a unique artistic event born from the imagination of the LaCuisine association, based in Muttersholtz, a town recognized as the French Capital of Biodiversity. Since its creation, this festival has offered an original concept: guided performance tours during which spectators, in small groups, are led through the village's gardens, courtyards, homes, streets, and natural spaces to discover short and unique forms created especially for the place and the occasion.

On-site creations between art and nature

Artists invited for a creation residency with the LaCuisine association imagine performances that intimately dialogue with their environment. Storytellers, puppeteers, musicians, actors, and performers inhabit the village's nooks and crannies and the banks of the Ill river to offer intimate and surprising artistic experiences. The recurring theme questions our relationship with life, nature, and the environment—a concern that resonates with the ecological identity of Muttersholtz and its Ried, this remarkable wetland in the Alsatian plain.

A walking tour between gardens and rivers

The festival's concept is based on walking tours. Spectators let themselves be guided from one point to another, discovering moments of artistic grace in a vegetable garden, under a weeping willow, in a barn, or by a river. This itinerant format creates a privileged relationship between artists and the public, fostering proximity, emotion, and surprise. Each place becomes a stage, each corner holds a performance.

A family-friendly and accessible event

L'Avide Jardin is designed for all audiences. Families will find an ideal playground, with poetic performances for the younger ones and more demanding offerings for adults. Access to the festival site and outdoor performances is free during the three days. Only performances in the indoor venue (in the Les Synergies space) are ticketed at very affordable prices, with a reduced rate, a full rate, and a support rate.

LaCuisine: an association rooted in the territory

The LaCuisine association, founder and organizer of the festival, is a cultural player rooted in the Ried territory. Throughout the year, it carries out projects for artistic creation, artist residencies, and cultural activities in connection with the inhabitants and the landscape. The L'Avide Jardin Festival is the highlight of this activity, a moment of sharing and celebration between art, nature, and the village community.
