About COLORS Urban Art Festival

Every year, the COLORS Urban Art Festival brings together around ten street artists in Strasbourg, invited to paint monumental murals on a site provided for the occasion. The COLORS Urban Art association organizes the event under the artistic direction of Stom500, moving to a different location each year based on available sites throughout the city.

Artists work in residence for several weeks before the opening to complete their pieces; the public then discovers the murals through free guided tours, workshops, and various activities. The festival also extends its programming with "Hors les murs" (off-site) events in several towns across Alsace.

COLORS Urban Art Festival — edition 2026

For its 8th edition, the COLORS Urban Art Festival is taking over a new venue: the AFPA training center in Strasbourg. Under the artistic direction of Stom500, ten artists from France, Germany, Russia, and Reunion Island will be creating monumental murals before the site opens to the public on the weekends from September 4th to 20th.

An edition at the AFPA

In 2026, the festival moves into the AFPA training center, which has been transformed into an open-air studio for the occasion. HERA, Olivia De Bona, Koga, Rero, Fork One, Missy, FloaFleur, Friture de Style, Loïc Lusnia, and Jean-Michel Ouvry will be in residence for several weeks leading up to the public opening.

The "Hors les murs" (Off-site) program extends the festival across several towns in Alsace, featuring murals and participatory workshops, including a mural project conducted with children from the Les Petites Roues association.

Practical information

Practical information — COLORS Urban Art Festival

Access

The festival is held at the AFPA in Strasbourg, on rue des Corps-de-Garde. By tram, take line C (towards Neuhof) and get off at the Kibitzenau stop; lines A, D, and E stop at Polygone, just 150 meters from the site. Free parking is available nearby for visitors arriving by car.

Admission is free and open to all, with no reservation required; free guided tours are offered every hour during opening times.

A residency-based event

Over the years, the festival has hosted nearly 120 artists at various iconic locations in Strasbourg. The concept remains the same: artists settle in several weeks before the opening to paint their murals, and the public explores the results during the opening weekends.

The COLORS Urban Art association partners with the music label Dope Tones Records for open-air entertainment, alongside participatory workshops conducted with local schools and associations.
