The musical and gourmet festival of new wine on the Place de la Mairie of Turckheim
Since 2008, the Fête du Vin Nouveau de Turckheim has become one of the most anticipated events of the Alsatian late summer. Organized by the Musique Municipale Écho de Turckheim, this convivial event takes place on the magnificent Place de la Mairie, in the heart of the medieval town. The association, which has over sixty musicians and has been performing at the highest level of French amateur orchestras for over twenty-five years, puts its talent to the service of this popular and gourmet festival.
The day begins at 11 am with an aperitif-concert by the Ensemble des Jeunes, the training orchestra that nurtures the future musicians of the Harmony Orchestra. These young talents open the festival with a varied and lively repertoire. The Orchestre d'Harmonie de Turckheim then takes over, alternating with the Mini Fanfare des Balcons from Strasbourg, a group known for its energetic rhythms and eclectic repertoire. Musical performances follow one another throughout the day, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere.
The festival is above all a celebration of new wine, these first barely fermented grape juices that announce the coming vintage. Visitors can taste this ephemeral nectar while savoring the specialties prepared by the association's volunteers: wood-fired tarts flambées, winemaker platters filled with Alsatian charcuterie and cheeses, harvester's soup, and homemade pastries. These seasonal dishes, served in a warm atmosphere, perfectly illustrate the marriage of music and gastronomy that defines this festival.
Turckheim, classified among the Most Beautiful Detours in France, is a fortified medieval town located at the entrance of the Munster valley, a few kilometers from Colmar. The town is famous for its night watchman who patrols the streets every summer evening, but also for its exceptional vineyards, particularly the Grand Cru Brand, one of the most renowned in Alsace. The Place de la Mairie, with its half-timbered houses, its Renaissance fountain, and its imposing guardhouse, offers a remarkable heritage setting for this new wine festival.
True to the spirit of conviviality that animates the Écho de Turckheim association, the Fête du Vin Nouveau is completely free. Tourists and locals gather in a simple and warm atmosphere to share the gustatory and musical pleasures of this end-of-harvest celebration. The event attracts an enthusiastic audience each year, seduced by the quality of the musical performances and the generosity of the Alsatian welcome.
The 19th edition of the Fête du Vin Nouveau will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, on the Place de la Mairie of Turckheim. From 11 am to 7 pm, the musicians of Écho de Turckheim will offer a quality musical program, accompanied by tastings of new wine and Alsatian specialties.
The full program will be announced during the summer of 2026 on the association's website.
