Discovering the Nutons, sprites of the Ardennes

L'Été des Nutons is a unique summer event that invites families to dive into the marvelous world of Ardennes legends. The Nutons, these mischievous and benevolent little beings from local folklore, serve as the common thread for a theatrical and playful trail designed for children and their parents. Organized every summer in July at the Foyer and esplanade de la Linette in Sedan, the event unfolds in a green setting on the bucolic heights of the Fond de Givonne.

The Enchanted Forest of the Nutons

The centerpiece of the event, The Enchanted Forest of the Nutons, is a recreational theatrical trail designed for children and their accompanying parents. This trail offers 5 participatory games in a legendary universe, enriched by an illustrated tale titled “The Little World of the Nutons,” a prelude that allows families to meet a whole gallery of characters from Ardennes legends. The indoor trail extends over 100 m² and concludes with an original game inspired by the game of the seven families.

Outdoor Escape Game and Hiking Trails

The adventure continues outdoors with an outdoor escape game that unfolds on the trails of the bucolic heights of Fond de Givonne. Two routes are offered: a 2.5 km trail for younger children and a 4.8 km trail for the more adventurous, dotted with 15 activities for over two hours of content. This playful hike transforms the walk into a true quest, where families must solve riddles and complete challenges to progress in the story of the Nutons.

Activities and Shows for the Whole Family

L'Été des Nutons also offers a treasure hunt of 1 to 2 km adapted for the little ones, a Quidditch tournament in a fairy knight style, a large shaded sandbox with two themed areas accessible for free, as well as a mini closing show with a photo session. All activities take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., offering more than three hours of family entertainment in a natural and enchanting setting.

An Event Rooted in Ardennes Folklore

Organized by the Union de Quartier du Fond de Givonne, L'Été des Nutons is part of an initiative to promote the intangible heritage of the Ardennes. The Nutons, creatures of the small folk of the Ardennes, are emblematic figures of local folklore, present in many traditional tales and stories from the Meuse valley. The event contributes to transmitting these legends to new generations in a lively and interactive way, while offering an original summer outing in a preserved natural setting.
