A Christmas Market in a Unique Fortified Setting

The Rocroi Christmas Market benefits from an incomparable setting: the Bastion du Dauphin, located within the star-shaped fortified city, one of the most remarkable examples of 16th-century military architecture modified by Vauban. Every year at the end of November, this historic site is adorned with its finest decorations to host a warm and authentic Christmas market in the heart of the Ardennes.

25 Years of Tradition and Conviviality

Organized by the association Rocroy Festivités, the Christmas market celebrated its 25th edition in 2024, marking a quarter-century of festive tradition rooted in the life of the city. This entirely free event brings together about forty exhibitors offering local crafts, Ardennes regional products, Christmas decorations, and gift ideas. The wooden chalets, set up in the bastion, create a magical atmosphere where military heritage blends with the magic of Christmas.

Santa's House and Activities

The market annually hosts Santa's House, where children can meet Santa Claus and receive treats. Santa's arrival, around 3 PM, is a highlight of the event, followed by a candy distribution. Activities punctuate the weekend: dance shows, a Christmas parade with the association Danse Addict, and lantern tours of the fortified city for the brave who wish to discover the fortifications in the mysterious atmosphere of the winter night.

Gastronomy and Ardennes Terroir

The Bastion du Dauphin offers a bar and light catering to warm up between purchases. Mulled wine, hot chocolate, waffles, and Ardennes specialties accompany visitors throughout the day. The market is also an opportunity to discover or rediscover Ardennes regional products: honey, jams, charcuterie, cheeses, and local craft beers.
