Open-air art exhibition in the historic center of L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs
L'Isle aux Peintres is an artistic event that showcases the architectural and natural heritage of L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs through visual arts. Every year in mid-June, the historic center of this commune, built on an island between two branches of the Doubs, transforms into an open-air art gallery.
Artists take over the streets, squares, riverbanks, and gardens of the historic center to exhibit their works in a picturesque setting. Painters, watercolorists, sculptors, and visual artists present their creations in dialogue with the ancient architecture and the river landscapes of L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs.
One of the charms of L'Isle aux Peintres lies in the proximity between artists and the public. Creators often exhibit while working, allowing visitors to observe painting, sculpting, or watercolor techniques live. Enriching exchanges naturally occur between artists and art lovers.
L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs offers an exceptional backdrop for this event. The commune, built on a natural island formed by two branches of the Doubs, boasts a historic center with narrow streets, old houses, and picturesque bridges. This architectural heritage provides an ideal setting for the presentation of artworks.
Beyond the exhibitions, L'Isle aux Peintres offers artistic practice workshops open to all, technique demonstrations by invited artists, and moments of conviviality centered around local gastronomy. The event contributes to the cultural and tourist rayonnement of L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs and its region.
L'Isle aux Peintres returns on Saturday, June 6, 2026, to the historic center of L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs. For one day, painters, watercolorists, sculptors, and visual artists will exhibit their works outdoors along the streets and banks of the Doubs, in a friendly atmosphere open to all and completely free.
The L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs Festival Committee is organizing a new edition of L'Isle aux Peintres on Saturday, June 6, 2026. For one day, this event transforms the town's historic center into an open-air art gallery: painters, watercolorists, sculptors, and visual artists present their creations outdoors in the streets, squares, and banks of this small town in the Doubs, built between two arms of the river.
Artists take over the historic center to exhibit their works in a unique heritage setting. Some work on site, allowing visitors to directly observe painting, watercolor, or sculpture techniques and to freely interact with the creators present.
Access to the entire event is free. The 2026 edition is concentrated on a single day, Saturday, in accordance with the program announced by the L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs town hall and the Festival Committee.
The detailed program (list of exhibiting artists, precise schedules, additional activities) will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event. For any information, contact the town hall at 03 81 99 37 80 or by email at [email protected].
