Festi'Val de Consolation: Sacred Music in an Exceptional Natural Setting

The Festi'Val de Consolation is a unique festival dedicated to sacred music from around the world. Presented by Compagnie Bacchus, it takes place every summer in the magnificent setting of the Val de Consolation, a 200-hectare natural site nestled in the Haut-Doubs mountains. The 17th-century monastery, a classified Historic Monument, and its chapel offer acoustics and an atmosphere conducive to contemplation and musical emotion.

An Extraordinary Venue

The Val de Consolation is a haven of preserved nature, crossed by rivers and surrounded by 40-meter high limestone cliffs. This classified site, located in the commune of Consolation-Maisonnettes, offers a breathtakingly beautiful setting for sacred music concerts. Spectators experience a complete sensory journey, between the power of the music and the majesty of the Jura landscape.

Sacred Music as an Elevation of the Soul

The festival is not limited to a strictly religious interpretation of sacred music. According to its programmers, sacred music is above all an "elevation of the soul", an invitation to inner journey and cultural encounters. Each edition explores a different theme and offers a varied program blending Christian, Sufi, Oriental, African music, and other spiritual traditions from around the world.

A Demanding and Eclectic Program

Each year, Festi'Val de Consolation offers several days of concerts, musical readings, and artistic encounters. The festival's godmother, Marie-Christine Barrault, notably presented a reading on Bach accompanied by a cellist and a pianist. The festival hosts internationally renowned artists who perform in the intimacy of the monastery's chapel or outdoors in the gardens of the Val.

An Event Driven by Compagnie Bacchus

Compagnie Bacchus, a theater and music company based in Besançon, is behind this festival. Driven by a passion for the performing arts and interdisciplinary encounters, they created the Festi'Val de Consolation in 2020 to bring this exceptional heritage site to life and offer the public a unique artistic and spiritual experience.
