Festival of Belgian beer and Flemish culture in Belfort
La Belge Quinzaine is a friendly festival celebrating Belgian culture in all its diversity in Belfort. For two weeks, the city resonates with our neighbors from the Low Countries, focusing on Belgian craft beer, gastronomy, Flemish and Walloon music, and popular traditions. A unique festive event in the Territoire de Belfort, at the crossroads of several European cultures.
Belfort, a crossroads city between France, Alsace, Franche-Comté, and Central Europe, has always maintained close ties with neighboring cultures. La Belge Quinzaine embodies this spirit of openness by offering each year, over a fortnight, a festive and sincere celebration of Belgian culture in all its forms.
Belgium, a cultural neighbor in its own right for the region, is celebrated here in its rich diversity: abbey beers, gueuzes and lambics, waffles and fries, but also music—from brass bands to the alternative scene, including jazz, rock, and electro made in Belgium. La Belge Quinzaine is an open door to this land of cultural abundance, populated by troubadours and ingenious brewers.
At the heart of the event, Belgian craft beer naturally holds a place of honor. Dozens of varieties—Trappist abbey beers, red and amber ales, triples and quadruples, spontaneous gueuzes, seasonal and special season beers—are offered to visitors during guided or self-guided tasting sessions.
Belgian breweries are sometimes directly represented, allowing festival-goers to meet their producers, understand ancestral brewing techniques, and develop their beer culture. Food and beer pairings are also highlighted during shared meals and themed dinners.
The Belgian music scene, rich and eclectic, is widely represented at the festival. Local bands and invited Belgian artists share the stage for concerts of Flemish folk, Belgian rock, Manouche jazz in the Brussels Manouche tradition, and French and Dutch-language songs. Street performances, jugglers, fire-eaters, and strolling brass bands complete the festive picture.
It's impossible to celebrate Belgium without its culinary specialties. Crispy fries, Liège and Brussels waffles, moules marinières, stoofvlees, and fine chocolates are on the menu, offered by artisans and restaurateurs who champion the authenticity of traditional recipes. Exhibitions and craft markets complement the offerings, showcasing the creativity of artisans from both neighboring countries.
