La Courneuve, a town in Seine-Saint-Denis rooted in values of solidarity and social connection, offers a Christmas program each winter called “Solid’air de Fête”. Far from commercial fanfare, this event places solidarity and universal access to festivities at the heart of its approach, by offering a maximum of free or very low-cost activities to allow every family to enjoy the magic of Christmas.
One of the main attractions of Solid’air de Fête is the free ice rink set up in the town. From early December to the first days of January, residents of La Courneuve and neighboring towns can put on their skates and glide on the ice in a festive and accessible setting. Time slots are organized for schoolchildren, associations, and the general public, allowing everyone to practice skating in a Christmas atmosphere. Animators are present to help beginners and ensure everyone’s safety.
The “Solid’air de Fête” program also includes craft markets offering local creations and products made by artisans and associations from the area. These markets promote responsible and local consumption, favoring short supply chains and supporting producers and creators from Seine-Saint-Denis. You can find jewelry, decorative items, books, games, textiles, and artisanal culinary specialties.
