Festival in Ille-et-Vilaine
The Privateers' Festival is a major historical and family event held every year in June in Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany). For one free day, the privateer city relives its 18th-century maritime history: historical reenactments, street shows, costumed entertainment, and immersive games invade the narrow streets of Intra-Muros.
Carried by hundreds of costumed volunteers, the festival stages the golden age of Saint-Malo's privateers. Each edition is built around a historical theme and brings to life the emblematic streets of the old town — rue du Pélicot, Maison du Pélicot, Cour de la Houssaye — as well as the castle and its Galley space.
The event is organized by the association Les Corsaires Malouins, with the support of the City of Saint-Malo. The detailed program is published annually on the official website lafetedescorsaires.fr.
The 6th edition of La Fête des Corsaires, titled « Return from Peru », will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11 AM to 7 PM, in Saint-Malo Intra-Muros. A free and family-friendly day that immerses the public in 18th-century corsair Saint-Malo, with historical reenactments, entertainment, and costumed games.
For this 6th edition, La Fête des Corsaires honors two figures from Saint-Malo linked to Peru: Jean-Baptiste Besnard de La Harpe, an explorer credited with the discovery of the Little Rock (Arkansas) site, and Alain Porée du Breil, the only corsair captain decorated by two successive kings, Louis XIV and Louis XV.
Two historical reenactment companies bring the 18th century to life on rue du Pélicot, at the Maison du Pélicot and the Cour de la Houssaye. For the first time, the Galère space, at the castle, hosts a grand immersive game, « The Inca Adventure ». Hundreds of costumed volunteers animate the streets of the corsair city throughout the day.
Visitors can win « Malos d'Or », the official currency of the festival, which can be used to offer board games to the Rêves de Clown association.
Full program to be announced on the official website: lafetedescorsaires.fr
