A heritage site steeped in history

La Ronde des Feux took place on the site of Les Poteries, a historic hamlet in Chaource that takes its name from the intensive pottery activity practiced there since the 16th century. This place of memory, nestled between woods and meadows in the Chaourçois countryside, preserves traces of a remarkable artisanal past. It was on this two-hectare site that the Artitude 10 association chose to anchor its festival in 2001, bringing a centuries-old ceramic tradition back to life while opening it to contemporary expressions of fire arts.

Over 200 artists gathered around fire

Each year, La Ronde des Feux brought together over 200 artists and young talents from all over France and Europe: ceramists, blacksmiths, bronze casters, sculptors, visual artists, and musicians shared their passion and expertise over a weekend. Nearly twenty different kilns were installed on the site, allowing visitors to discover the history of ceramic firing through the ages: wood firing, raku, pit firing, smoke firing, salt glazing… Live demonstrations of throwing, modeling, sculpting, and decorating stoneware, earthenware, and porcelain pieces offered a fascinating and educational spectacle.

A sensory festival combining art, nature, and spectacle

Beyond ceramics, La Ronde des Feux was a true feast for the senses. The site, illuminated by the flames of the kilns and pyrotechnic installations, transformed on Saturday evening into a magical universe where street performances, concerts, light shows, and artistic installations mingled. Children benefited from over 20 free workshops to discover fire arts: introduction to throwing, modeling, ceramic painting, forging…

The end of the adventure

Created in 2001 by the Artitude 10 association, La Ronde des Feux had established itself as an unmissable event in the cultural calendar of Aube and the Grand Est region. After the 19th edition in June 2019, the festival was no longer organized. The Artitude 10 association remains active in the territory for other artistic projects.
