A heritage site steeped in history

La Ronde des Feux takes place on the site of Les Poteries, a historic hamlet of Chaource that derives its name from the intensive pottery activity that took place there since the 16th century. This place of memory, nestled between woods and meadows in the Chaource countryside, preserves the traces of a remarkable artisanal past. It is on this two-hectare site that the association Artitude 10 chose to anchor its festival in 2001, reviving a centuries-old ceramic tradition while opening it up to contemporary expressions of fire arts.

Over 200 artists gathered around fire

Each year, La Ronde des Feux brings together over 200 artists and young talents from all over France and Europe: ceramists, blacksmiths, bronze makers, sculptors, visual artists and musicians share their passion and know-how over a weekend. Nearly twenty different kilns are set up on the site, allowing visitors to discover or rediscover the history of ceramic firing through the ages: wood firing, raku, pit firing, smoking, salt glazing... Live demonstrations of throwing, modeling, sculpting and decorating stoneware, earthenware and porcelain pieces offer a fascinating and educational spectacle.

A sensory festival between art, nature and performance

Beyond ceramics, La Ronde des Feux is a true celebration of the senses. The site, illuminated by the flames of the kilns and pyrotechnic installations, transforms on Saturday evening into a magical universe where street performances, concerts, light shows and artistic installations blend together. Children benefit from over 20 free workshops to discover fire arts: introduction to throwing, modeling, ceramic painting, forging... The unique atmosphere of this festival, at the crossroads of art, nature and live performance, makes it a unifying and family-friendly event, accessible to all audiences.

A meeting rooted in the territory

Since its creation in 2001 by the association Artitude 10, La Ronde des Feux has continuously grown to become a must-see event in the cultural calendar of the Aube department and the Grand Est region. The festival is held every year during the Pentecost weekend, on Saturday from 3 PM to 2 AM and on Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM. Rooted in its territory, it promotes the local ceramic heritage while fostering exchanges between professional and amateur artists, between ancestral traditions and contemporary creation. The ceramists' market also allows visitors to acquire unique pieces directly from the artisans.
