Landeus y Tapas: the festival between Landes and Basque Country

Landeus y Tapas is a festive and gourmet event held every third weekend of June in Labenne, a coastal town in the southern Landes, on the border with the Basque Country. Organized for the Fête de la Musique, this event combines gastronomy, live music, and a popular festival atmosphere in a spirit of conviviality.

A gourmet village of twenty food stalls

The heart of Landeus y Tapas is the Gourmet Village of Casetas, set up on the Place de la République in Labenne. Twenty casetas (small food stalls inspired by Basque and Spanish festivals) offer a varied culinary selection blending Landes and Basque specialties: shrimp skewers, duck hearts, pintxos, chipirons (small squid), croquetas, xistora (sausage), mussels, tortilla, pan con tomate (bread with tomato), grilled sardines, galettes saucisse (sausage crepes), and crepes. The casetas open on Friday at 5:00 PM and Saturday at 6:30 PM, with tasting platters at 4 euros.

Music and concerts

The musical program of Landeus y Tapas is rich and varied. On Friday evening, the lineup opens with a concert by local school children, followed by local musical groups and an evening of free concerts organized with Landes Musiques Amplifiées (LMA), blending rock, electro, and world music. On Saturday, musical entertainment continues with acoustic duos, Basque choirs, cover bands, and a DJ set to close the evening.

A family-friendly and popular event

Landeus y Tapas is a family-friendly and popular event, open to all audiences. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere, affordable prices at the casetas, and the diverse musical program make it a must-attend event at the beginning of summer in the southern Landes. The event brings together residents of Labenne, vacationers, and visitors from the Landes coast in a spirit of shared celebration.

Labenne, between ocean and tradition

Labenne is a coastal town located at the extreme south of the Landes coast, a few kilometers from Bayonne and the border with the Basque Country. This geographical location gives Landeus y Tapas its unique identity, at the crossroads of Landes, Gascon, and Basque cultures, which can be found in both the gastronomic offerings and the musical programming.
