A storytelling biennial born in 1996
Les Colporteurs d'Histoires is the premier festival for storytelling and oral arts in the Val de Lorraine. Organized by the Ligue de l'enseignement de Meurthe-et-Moselle (FOL 54), it runs every two years for about a fortnight in October. The 2016 edition marked the festival's 20th anniversary.
A traveling festival
There is no single venue; every performance has its own location. Towns like Pompey, Liverdun, Custines, Marbache, Champigneulles, Frouard, and Montenoy are regular hosts. Depending on the year, the festival also reaches communities such as Bouxières-aux-Dames, Onville, Pagny-sur-Moselle, and Bayonville-sur-Mad (2016), or Thiaucourt, Novéant, and Mars-la-Tour (2022).
The art of storytelling
Past programs have featured indoor performances, storytelling walks, evening gatherings, lectures on the art of storytelling, shows for schools and nurseries, and workshops in recreation centers. Storytellers often incorporate musical instruments, such as Julien Staudt's ukulele or Hélène Palardy's electric guitar. Artists such as Marie-France Painset, Flopy, Léa Pellarin, and Pierre Desvigne have been among the featured guests.
