Contemporary theatre festival at La Ferme du Buisson (2013-2021, discontinued)
Created in 2013 at La Ferme du Buisson, the national theatre of Marne-la-Vallée (Noisiel, 77), Les Enfants du Désordre was a theatrical highlight dedicated to directors ranging from emerging talents to established figures. Each autumn, in November, the festival brought together about ten stage productions that questioned the era with audacity and irreverence: committed creations, reinterpretations of classics, hybrid forms between theatre, dance, and performance. The last documented edition was the 8th, in November 2021 ("Scènes de famille"). The festival is no longer part of the national theatre's programme and does not seem to be held today.
ℹ️ Festival discontinued. Les Enfants du Désordre animated La Ferme du Buisson from 2013 to 2021. The last publicly documented edition was the 8th, from November 19 to 27, 2021 ("Scènes de famille"). This highlight is no longer part of the programme of the national theatre of Marne-la-Vallée, and no edition has been announced since. This page is kept for archival purposes.
From 2013 to 2021, La Ferme du Buisson dedicated a fortnight each autumn to a contemporary theatre festival of rare intensity. Les Enfants du Désordre brought together artists who revisited classics, invented their own dramaturgies, and explored the most intimate and political territories of the human condition. This highlight of the national theatre of Marne-la-Vallée had established itself as a key theatre event in Île-de-France.
The programme oscillated between established directors and young, rising creators. Each edition offered around seven to ten shows, mixing text-based theatre, performative forms, choreographic pieces, and multidisciplinary creations. The festival hosted remarkable companies and artists such as Les Chiens de Navarre, Mohamed El Khatib, and Igor Mendjisky.
Each edition was built around a thematic thread that ran through the shows: family ("Scènes de famille" in 2021), love, madness, utopia, revolt, identity. These universal questions were conveyed through demanding contemporary writings and inventive stagings.
La Ferme du Buisson, with its multiple performance spaces — from the grand theatre to more intimate areas — offered an ideal setting for this diversity of theatrical forms. The public could attend multiple shows, participate in meetings with artists, and experience an immersion in contemporary stage creation.
After the 2021 edition, Les Enfants du Désordre was not renewed in La Ferme du Buisson's programme. The national theatre continues its theatrical activity throughout the year (shows, exhibitions at the art centre, cinema); consult its official programme for current events.
