About Marché Médiéval Najac

The Marché Artisanal Médiéval de Najac is a day of medieval entertainment organized by the association Cultura Najac in partnership with the Maison du Gouverneur and the Fortress. Each spring, medieval artisans, reenactors, and performance troupes take over the village streets, from rue du Bourguet to the Maison du Gouverneur, for an artisan market followed by an evening medieval banquet on rue de la Loge.

A medieval day in an exceptional village

Najac, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, offers an ideal setting for a journey back in time. Dominated by its 13th-century royal fortress, the village, stretched along its rocky ridge above the gorges of the Aveyron, transforms for a day into a lively medieval town.

Artisan market and demonstrations

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the medieval artisan market extends from rue du Bourguet to the Maison du Gouverneur. Artisans in period costumes showcase their skills: leatherwork, blacksmithing, pottery, illumination, weaving, and armor making. Demonstrations and workshops on medieval crafts punctuate the day, allowing visitors to discover ancestral techniques.

Medieval dance and entertainment

The company Alagramgor offers workshops and performances of medieval dance throughout the day around the Maison du Gouverneur. Musicians, jugglers, and fire-eaters entertain the village streets for complete immersion in the Middle Ages atmosphere.

Evening medieval banquet

From 7 p.m., a medieval banquet is offered on rue de la Loge, hosted by the company Alagramgor and staged by Les Délices de l'Histoire. Guests are invited to come in period costume for an immersive experience. Reservations are mandatory for the banquet.

An immersion in the 13th century at the foot of the fortress

From Rue du Bourguet to the Maison du Gouverneur, costumed artisans, re-enactors, and performance companies bring medieval daily life back to life in the cobbled streets dominated by the royal fortress.

Blacksmiths, soap makers, weavers, and other representatives of ancient trades present their know-how and offer their medieval-inspired creations. Demonstrations and introductions to ancestral techniques punctuate the day. Free access.

The Compagnie des Parias du Rouergue occupies every space of the Maison du Gouverneur (CIAP) for a living re-enactment: armory, medieval kitchen, counterfeiters' workshop, sewing, medieval hygiene. A troupe of medieval mercenaries animates these scenes of daily life in the 13th century. Price: 5 € (reduced 3.50 €, free -12 years).
