Medieval market and banquet at the foot of the royal fortress of Najac
Najac, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, offers an ideal setting for a journey back in time. Dominated by its 13th-century royal fortress, the village, stretched along its rocky ridge above the gorges of the Aveyron, transforms for a day into a lively medieval town.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the medieval artisan market extends from rue du Bourguet to the Maison du Gouverneur. Artisans in period costumes showcase their skills: leatherwork, blacksmithing, pottery, illumination, weaving, and armor making. Demonstrations and workshops on medieval crafts punctuate the day, allowing visitors to discover ancestral techniques.
The company Alagramgor offers workshops and performances of medieval dance throughout the day around the Maison du Gouverneur. Musicians, jugglers, and fire-eaters entertain the village streets for complete immersion in the Middle Ages atmosphere.
From 7 p.m., a medieval banquet is offered on rue de la Loge, hosted by the company Alagramgor and staged by Les Délices de l'Histoire. Guests are invited to come in period costume for an immersive experience. Reservations are mandatory for the banquet.
