About Marché Médiéval Najac
Marché Médiéval Najac — edition 2026
An immersion in the 13th century at the foot of the fortress
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the Cultura Najac association and the Maison du Gouverneur transform the village of Najac, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, into a true medieval town. From Rue du Bourguet to the Maison du Gouverneur, costumed artisans, re-enactors, and performance companies bring medieval daily life back to life in the cobbled streets dominated by the royal fortress.
Craft market and demonstrations (10 am-6 pm)
From 10 am to 6 pm, the medieval craft market stretches from Rue du Bourguet to the Maison du Gouverneur. Blacksmiths, soap makers, weavers, and other representatives of ancient trades present their know-how and offer their medieval-inspired creations. Demonstrations and introductions to ancestral techniques punctuate the day. Free access.
Living encampment at the Maison du Gouverneur (10 am-5 pm)
The Compagnie des Parias du Rouergue occupies every space of the Maison du Gouverneur (CIAP) for a living re-enactment: armory, medieval kitchen, counterfeiters' workshop, sewing, medieval hygiene. A troupe of medieval mercenaries animates these scenes of daily life in the 13th century. Price: 5 € (reduced 3.50 €, free -12 years).
Royal fortress and encampment (10:30 am-6 pm)
Within the castle grounds, knights, jugglers, and entertainment complete the immersion. Price: 7 € (reduced 5.50 €).
Workshops, medieval dances and music
Throughout the day: basketry workshops for children (from 6 years old, slots 10 am-12 pm and 2:30 pm-4:30 pm), parades, dance workshops (medieval ball and carole), dance shows, and traditional music concerts in the streets. Visitors are invited to come in costume.
Flavors market and medieval banquet (from 7 pm)
In the evening, on Rue de la Loge, the flavors market and the medieval banquet take over. The meal, prepared according to 13th and 14th-century recipes, is offered by Les Délices de l'Histoire (Dame Béatrice and Maître Jehan) and animated by the Compagnie Alagramgor. Reservation required (limited places) — dedicated contact at 06 24 41 48 74.
