The magic of Christmas in the corsair city
Every December, Granville's Place du Général de Gaulle hosts a Christmas market with 16 wooden chalets offering local products, Norman crafts, and delicacies. The event is part of a festive program including a theatrical light parade, shows, and creative workshops. The corsair city facing the Mont-Saint-Michel bay offers an enchanting setting for the holidays.
Granville, the corsair city perched on its rocky promontory facing the Mont-Saint-Michel bay, offers an enchanting setting for its Christmas festivities. Every December, the recently renovated Place du Général de Gaulle hosts 16 wooden chalets that make up a warm and friendly Christmas market.
The market chalets offer a wide selection of local and artisanal products: original gift ideas, festive dishes, seasonal delicacies, and hot drinks. Norman artisans present their creations — jewelry, decorations, textiles, ceramics — while local producers showcase the specialties of the Granville and Manche region. The market is the ideal place to find authentic gifts while supporting the local economy.
The highlight of Granville's Christmas festivities is the Light Parade, a theatrical, dancing, and luminous procession that takes over the city streets. In 2025, the company Remue-Ménage presented "La parade amoureuse", an original show featuring a herd of stags and does in a magical procession. This free show attracts thousands of spectators to the streets of Granville.
Granville's Christmas festivities extend throughout December, from the first weekend until the early days of January. The program is coordinated by the city's cultural services, the media library, the social center L'Agora, the theater L'Archipel, and Vitrines de Granville. Creative workshops for children, concerts, street performances, and various activities complement the market's offerings. All festivities are free and open to all, in the spirit of sharing and conviviality that characterizes Granville's year-end celebrations.
The 2026 Granville Christmas Market will be held from December 5 to 27 on the Place du Général de Gaulle, featuring its artisan chalets, light parade, and festive activities. Detailed program to be announced in Fall 2026.
